Cheribundi Tart Cherry Juice Review
After hearing good things about tart cherry juice, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try a new product that is supposed to be beneficial to runners. I haven’t been doing many reviews lately, so I figured now would be a good time!
Cheribundi contacted me asking if I wanted to try their five flavors of tart cherry juice.
The flavors: tru cherry, skinny cherry (lower in calories than tru cherry), ginger cherry, cacao cherry, and whey cherry (with protein).
Disclaimer: I was not compensated to review this product. Cheribundi sent me the juice to try and review for the blog. All opinions are my own.
When cherry juice is consumed after a hard run or workout, because it contains anthocyanins, a phytonutrient that gives berries their bright red color, it is supposed to reduce muscle soreness decrease inflammation. Tart cherries are also full of antioxidants, much more so than other fruits. For more information on the benefits of tart cherries, read this article.
I drank the “tru cherry” flavor on Saturday immediately after my run to test it out and see if I noticed any difference in my recovery.
I knew I would like the taste since I love cherries. I didn’t even mind the tartness. It was good! As for my recovery, I didn’t do anything drastically different than I normally do after a 12 mile run. I stretched and relaxed for the remainder of the day. I didn’t do much walking so I was afraid I’d be sore the next day. But, come to find out, I had minimal soreness in my legs. I will definitely be drinking this after my half marathon next weekend to test it out again.
I’m planning on drinking a bottle of cherry juice every day up until Sunday to increase my chances of having a good recovery following my half marathon. I’ll keep you posted!

Great blog! I have been lurking for a couple weeks now.
I found a study online () that seems to conclude that drinking tart cherry juice the week before, and during endurance race events helps with post muscle soreness.
The sugar content would keep me from drinking it on a daily basis but I can see it as a great supplement for when I start running longer distances.
Thanks for the review!

Sorry, I butchered the HTML on that link (and added a 0 on the end some how)
Here is the correct link : http://www.jissn.com/content/7/1/17

Also, I was at Price Chopper (Mohawk Commons) and they had the Tru Cherry and Skinny Cherry for $1.99.
