About Jen

My name is Jen I’m from Albany, NY. I started this blog as a way to document my healthy living accomplishments and outdoor adventures. Here I write about mountain biking and gravel riding, hiking in the Adirondacks, and nutrition. In August 2016 I began my Dietetic Internship to become a Registered Dietitian. On Sept. 1, 2017 I passed the RD exam after seven long years of school. I also used to run marathons, but after tearing my ACL in a ski accident in January 2020 and undergoing ACL reconstruction surgery, I’ve focused on hiking and cycling!

I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible! I’ve completed five marathons since 2012 and I’m also an Adirondack 46er . I’ve more recently started mountain biking and endurance gravel riding.

I strive to live a healthy, active lifestyle and hope I can inspire you to do the same!

When I am not adventuring outdoors, I am a dietitian at a psychiatric hospital in Albany, NY.

Hey! Just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your blog! I always like going out and reading what other people have to say about some of the peaks before I go off on my adventure. I went on my first hike a little over a year ago (started out with Marcy.. didn’t know what I was getting myself into!) and absolutely love it.
I also wanted to leave a quick comment because I saw that we are both from the Albany area and decided to say hi! Enjoy your hiking season!

Love your blog about your hiking trips! My boyfriend and I just moved to upstate NY from North Dakota and have embraced the challenge to become a 46ER! Your blogs are my go-to read before hiking a new mountain! You did an excellent job summarizing the hikes! Today we are off to hike Street and Nye, slightly rainy out now so might be an interesting and chilly day! Hope your dietitian career is off to a great start!

Great blog. I stumbled up it after booking the same Yurt in less than 3 weeks! Was looking for a picture of it. We too have moved here and work in the Albany area, living in the Berkshires. We also have 2 cats, Moses and General. It is so great what you do, we are trying to get fit enough to hike up Algonquin it is just soo hard, lol. I am inspired by your commitment. Keep up the great work, you are inspiring.
