My name is Jen and I’m a 26 year old college graduate and current full-time office worker. I started this blog as a way to document my healthy living accomplishments and strive to maintain a drastic weight loss.

Three years ago I decided to change my lifestyle. Growing up I was a chubby kid, but after gaining a lot of weight during and after college, I was 85 pounds overweight and unhappy. Tired of being overweight, I read “Skinny Bitch” and that book motivated me to change my unhealthy eating habits. Along with learning to love fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods, I gave up beef and pork for ethical and health reasons in August of 2008. My interest in ethical eating continued when I read “Eating Animals” in April 2010. After that, I stopped eating poultry and became a pesco-vegetarian, meaning the only meat I still eat is fish.
Also, in August 2008 I began to exercise almost daily, and started running. I went from barely being able to complete one lap at a high school track, to finishing multiple races. I also ran my first half-marathon on October 10, 2010.

I ran my second, the Pittsburgh Half Marathon, on May 15, 2011.

And my third on August 6, 2011.

Words cannot express how changing my life has made me feel. I’ve lost around 80 pounds, and now my goal is to keep it off by making wise food choices and exercising regularly.

I was always a chubby kid. I graduated high school at a size 14, and throughout college I started gaining more weight. Here is a picture of me in 2005, my sophomore year of college.

Here I am my senior year of college in 2007.

I knew at my heaviest I had to do something about it! In the summer of 2008 I started to change my way of thinking. Here I am in March of 2009 after losing about 50ish pounds.

I kept going and here I am in November 2009 at the Troy Turkey Trot, and at my lowest weight ever, 80 pounds lighter!

Here I am in Florida in February 2010 !

And here I am in NYC in March 2010. Since I reached my goal weight in November 2009, I’ve maintained consistently, my weight fluctuating around 5-8 pounds.
