    What I’m Thankful For

I decided to take a vacation day today so I could relax and get some baking and cooking done before Thanksgiving! One of my goodies is a batch of pumpkin blondies . 🙂 They were super easy to make! (But the recipe called them chocolate brownies. I disagree since they aren’t very chocolately and they are not chocolate in color, so I’m calling them blondies!) Also, as part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program, I was sent some coupons for free Duncan Hines products for review. (As always, the product was free but the opinions are my own.) I couldn’t say no to that. I happened to pick up the chocolate…

    Saturday Brunch and Movie Date

Chris and I are developing a new tradition–Saturday Brunch and Movie Date. Every other Saturday, my favorite bakery, Xs to Os in Troy has a vegan brunch. So far we’ve gone three times and the food has been amazingly delicious! Yesterday was no different! My favorite brunch date. 😉 I got up early and headed to the gym Saturday morning for a workout, which started out as 20 minutes on the elliptical and then I tried out a new class called Body Flow. It was a yoga-inspired workout, which was awesome! The warm up was a bit weird, some tai-chi movements, not a fan of those…but after that we got…

Sporty Pal Fitness Pack Review and Giveaway!

Disclaimer: I was sent an android phone and code for a Sporty Pal Fitness application for review on my blog but my views and opinions are my own. Last month I was contacted by Sony Ericcson to try out an Android fitness application called Sporty Pal. When I told the company I don’t have an Android phone (or any smartphone for that matter–I’m still in the stone age) they offered to send me the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini to try out the application on! The good thing about the phone is that I didn’t need a cell phone plan to use the application! It connected to my wireless internet at…

    Dinner Tonight

For the first time in a long time I cooked myself an actual meal for dinner. Usually I have a smoothie or an egg sandwich and call that dinner, but after I got home from an four mile run at the gym I felt like having an actual meal. I had some frozen salmon in my freezer that had been sitting there for awhile. Usually I’m too lazy to defrost and cook it, but tonight that changed. I cooked up the salmon in a pan with olive oil, super easy. I made some couscous as a side, which took all of five minutes. All I needed now was some veggies!…

    Thrive Foods Book Review

I was recently sent the book Thrive Foods written by the professional Ironman triathlete Brendan Brazier and creator of Vega, to review for my blog. Since I really like books about nutrition and healthy lifestyles, I was really excited to read it! While I was sent the book free of charge, the opinions are 100% my own, and if I had a negative opinion on a product you would know. In this book, Brazier talks about plant-based foods and how they stack up nutritionally and how ultimately a plant-based diet will give us better health in the long run. He never specifically uses the term Vegan, but since I already…
