    2013 Workforce Team Challenge

Thursday night was a perfect night for a race! A few co-workers and I walked to the Empire State Plaza for my FOURTH Workforce Challenge 3.5 mile race! There was a slight breeze, and I think it was around 80 degrees. We hung around the museum steps for about an hour just chatting. {me and my co-worker, Grace. HEY GRACE!} Finally, with about 20 minutes to go, we walked down to the starting line. I decided in the beginning that I was going to take my time. Its impossible to start out this race fast–there is just too many people. The course is very similar to the Freihofer’s Run, with…

Weekend Goodness: Margaritas, Sombreros and a Gorgeous Wedding

What a beautiful weekend we had here…it was pretty exciting. Friday night I celebrated my birthday with some friends at El Mariachi. It was such a gorgeous night! I was hoping to be out on the patio but we weren’t, it was still fun though!  The margaritas are amazing at El Mariachi. I ordered the Enchiladas el Mariachi, my favoriteeee dish from here. So glad I got to celebrate with such good friends. Sadly my sister and her boyfriend were absent since they had a wedding to go to in PORTLAND, OR. (I am so jealous!) But we managed to have an awesome time. They even gave me some flan…

    Albany Pine Bush Trail Run

The weather last night was pretty nice (60 degrees!), so my friend Laura and I decided to go for a run together. We decided on the Pine Bush Preserve. The area we went to was by the Rensselaer Lake. There are tons of trails and there even a little pond for fishing. There is another portion of the Pine Bush a few minutes away, which we want to try running at next time. We ran a 3.1 mile loop around the Preserve. I had only been there once about five years ago, so it was nice to try some new running trails in the area. There weren’t many runners or…

    New Downtown Lunch Spot

The Beer Doctors posted today about the lack of good food in Downtown Albany after a night out at some of the bars. I agree–I also think there is definitely a lack of options down there for a quick grab and go lunch on the week day. There are a ton of lunch shops, all with weird hours, most have subs full of deli meat, with no meat-free option in sight–unless you want a boring salad with lack of tasty toppings (and protein). Last week my co-worker Molly and I were walking around Pearl Street looking for a place to grab lunch. We happened upon Dali Mamma on Maiden Lane–just…

    Weekend Happenings

Friday night: Friday was pretty low key! I made some home made pizza for Chris and myself, complete with some cheese from the Cheese Traveler. It was DELICIOUS and one of the best pizzas I’ve made so far! The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the fake sausage–the lightlife brand. It didn’t even taste like sausage–just like fake meat product. At least it added a bit of a protein, but the rest of the pizza was really good. The cheese we used was mostly mozzarella but also some slices of Havarti from Demark. Chris went to the Cheese Traveler to pick up some. It was pretty fantastic on…
