    2014 Workforce Team Challenge

Good morning! Happy Friday. Anyone take part in the Workforce Team Challenge last night? I always run it with my co-workers, and this year was no different. Except this year was the first year it rained! It was raining when we got to the plaza, but then stopped right as the race was starting. 9,500 people were signed up for this race, the largest in the capital region! I didn’t have any goals going into this race because it’s so hard to run a good race due to the thousands of runners. This year, the course was a bit different. We started further up Madison Avenue so this gave us…

    2013 Workforce Team Challenge

Thursday night was a perfect night for a race! A few co-workers and I walked to the Empire State Plaza for my FOURTH Workforce Challenge 3.5 mile race! There was a slight breeze, and I think it was around 80 degrees. We hung around the museum steps for about an hour just chatting. {me and my co-worker, Grace. HEY GRACE!} Finally, with about 20 minutes to go, we walked down to the starting line. I decided in the beginning that I was going to take my time. Its impossible to start out this race fast–there is just too many people. The course is very similar to the Freihofer’s Run, with…

    2012 Workforce Team Challenge

As I mentioned yesterday, I ran the Workforce Team Challenge last night after work! I headed to the Empire State Plaza with my friend/co-worker, Valerie, who was also running the race. My sister also met us there because she was running for her work team! As always, the start of the race is so crowded you can hardly run. Well, you can slowly jog up Madison Avenue. I didn’t find a good pace until we hit Washington Park. My first mile was 9:15-ish. My second mile was under 9:00!  And my third mile was my fastest, around 8:30 something, I think. Leaving the park and taking a left onto Madison…

    Race Goals

Tonight I’m running the Workforce Team Challenge with my office team! Every year I say I’m not going to do it again (its usually hot and super crowded), but every year I get sucked in. I’m pretty excited though. This is the third time running this 3.5 mile race in Albany. The first year, 2010, I ran it in 33:30. The next year I ran it in 30:12. I’m aiming for under 30 this year! I’m hoping I can keep a steady pace for 3.5 miles but it is so hard when the race is so crowded (10,000 runners!). For the first time in three years I’m not running the…

    2011 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge

Friday morning I woke up and had one of the best smoothies I’ve made. Simple, yet delicious. On my lunch break I walked to a small farmer’s market. They didn’t have much, only some plants and a few baked goods. Every time I go I swoon at the break from Meredith’s Bread. I finally went ahead and bought some Rustic Whole Wheat. I loved the ingredients list! Short & Sweet. I can’t wait to have some toasted with peanut butter! Lunch yesterday was a simple peanut butter & jelly sandwich. Had  to keep the tummy happy for my evening race! I changed, headed up to the Empire State Plaza and…
