2014 Workforce Team Challenge

Anyone take part in the Workforce Team Challenge last night? I always run it with my co-workers, and this year was no different. Except this year was the first year it rained! It was raining when we got to the plaza, but then stopped right as the race was starting. 9,500 people were signed up for this race, the largest in the capital region!

I didn’t have any goals going into this race because it’s so hard to run a good race due to the thousands of runners. This year, the course was a bit different. We started further up Madison Avenue so this gave us the opportunity to avoid the giant hill on Madison in the beginning. I got off a fast start with a 9:17 first mile, almost unheard of in previous years’ races!

I kept up the pace for the rest of the race, finishing in 32:24, a 9:16 average pace. Although I felt like I was running much faster at times. I need to work on my speed if I ever want to run any faster for shorter distances.
