Out of the Yoga Slump
The past few months have been solely dedicated to running. I wanted to run the Diva Half Marathon well at the beginning of October (mission accomplished) so all other exercise came to a halt, including yoga and body pump class! It had been months since I’ve done either.
I’ve had a hard time fitting body pump into my schedule since school started again so I decided to suck it up and force myself to do some yoga at home. I had been in a yoga slump. I was too tired and to even do a 20 minutes class from yogadownload after getting home from class or work. Finally I did a 60 minute hip opener session and told myself I had to finish the whole 60 minutes, or else. I did it, and my hips were thanking me!
Then the other day after talking to Lauren about yoga on the drive to Ithaca, we decided to take another class together at the Good Karma Studio, a new yoga place off of Wolf Road in Albany. We went there for the first time in August but I didn’t write about it because the class didn’t impress me. Sure it was a great workout but it felt off somehow. This week’s class was a different instructor and the name of it appealed to me–Hot Power Fusion! Lauren and I decided to give it a try!
The class was amazing, the instructor, Bethany was great. I really loved the flow of the class and she even incorporated some ab work. Lauren and I were both fans of the class.
There were even some new to me poses.
Side Crane (I couldn’t do it–yet.)
And Rabbit Pose
I love classes that are challenging yet relaxing at the same time. It was just what I needed to get out of my yoga slump!
What do you do to get yourself out of a fitness slump?

I need to cash in my yoga class cards. I’ve been in a slight fitness slump since I am taking off from running til the end of the month. I tried to do a side crane once. Didn’t work out, lol. I need some major upper body strength.

Sounds like you two have had so much fun. I need to take a class again. I always challenge myself so much more in classes.
To get out of a workout slump I have to go to a class. If I’m doing something on my own I can slack. I push hard in classes to get a good workout.

Nice work! Sometimes when I’m too busy to make it into the studio I do yoga at home. I always forget that it can be just as good of a workout and not take up as much time.
I am NOT a fan of rabbit pose. My neck doesn’t like it!
