Julie’s 25th
Yesterday was my sister’s 25th Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Julie! I went to my parents earlier in the day to have some cake and ice cream. She got her cake from Cakes Next Door in Delmar. It was red velvet and delicious!
Apparently my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I wanted the rose but could hardly eat it–the frosting was SO sweet. Usually I can always finish my frosting since its my favorite part of the cake, so that’s saying something.
My sister had reservations at the New World Bistro in Albany for her birthday dinner. I might have played a role in choosing the dinner place…Shhh. But, it never fails!
For dinner I got the blue corn encrusted seitan medallions. I was expecting small pieces of seitan on top of the veggies and rice but then I got this.
They were HUGE! They looked like giant pork chops! They were incredible! If you don’t know what seitan is, its a meat substitute made from wheat. It is also high in protein, making it a popular source of protein for vegetarians. And its DELICIOUS.
Anyway, I loved my meal. Since it was my sister’s birthday she got a complimentary dessert! She chose the fruit crumble and shared with me. 🙂
Hope you had a great birthday, sis! 🙂
