2019 Farmer’s Fatty Gravel Ride

Happy Belated St Patrick’s Day! Jordan and I celebrated by riding the Farmer’s Fatty Gravel Ride, a 25 mile ride through the hills of Nassau and East Chatham. The ride started at S&S Farm Brewery in Nassau (a very cool place if you haven’t yet been) at 10am.

Stacey, Deb and I before the ride

The weather was a bit chilly (mid 30s) with some wind. At least the sun came out! The course was very similar to the Farmer’s Daughter and the Gravel Gobbler, so I knew it would be gorgeous!

Jordan took off in the beginning, so I rode with a few ladies I knew from previous rides. The course was very challenging. It has been a long time since I had done any rides with elevation so my legs were feeling it. Some of the climbs were brutal! However, we were rewarded with views like this.

Thankfully at mile 12 there was an aid station with water, cookies and energy bites! I snagged a cookie since I hadn’t brought enough fuel with me on the ride (I should have known better). It gave me the energy I needed to finish the ride!

At around mile 19, I accidentally took a wrong turn due to a lopsided street sign and added on about a mile and half to the ride. Whoops.

The ride ended with a nice long climb back up to the farm. Through the trees, you could see the Kinderhook Creek.

Three and half hours after starting I rolled in, Jordan waiting at the finish area. I was toast!

We changed, sat in the brewery to warm up and drink our beers while chatting with Stacey and Deb. Even though it was a difficult ride, it was a blast! Looking forward to the Farmer’s Daughter in May.
