National Running Day
I heard today is National Running Day. I guess that means I should go for a run today, huh? I think I will!
I started running in 2008 as a way to get in shape and lose weight after gaining a lot of weight during and after college. I lost 70 pounds and I’m still running because…its fun! Little did I know this exercise, which was once just a way to burn some calories, would turn into a passion and hobby that I need in order to stay sane. Running and racing all types of distances has helped shape the person I am today, and the person I never thought I would be. I’ve met new friends though running. I’ve pushed myself to goals that I never thought would be possible! I truly do love running.
And here are some running related posts for you all.
I’m actually not crazy: Why I Run Races
My post about preparing to run my first half marathon: Bring on 13.1
And the event itself: Mohawk Hudson River Half Marathon
My favorite things that make running more enjoyable: Five Running Gadgets I Can’t Live Without
AND finally, something I never (even when I ran my first half) thought I’d want to do: 26.2 Here I Come
Why do you run?

It used to be a form of cardio (I started off running on the TM in the gym) but when I moved it outdoors, it became an avenue for lifelong friendships. Runners are an incredible lot – supportive, helpful and encouraging.
