Greetings from Anaheim
Yesterday was a whirlwind. Chris and I got up at 4:30 am to go to the Albany Airport to catch our flight to California! We’re in town for Chris’ best friend’s wedding. He lives in California and is getting married on the beach this weekend! I couldn’t miss this opportunity to see California, since I’ve never been there.
Anyway, after one layover in Cleveland, we arrived at LAX at 10:30am pacific time…we gained three hours. We took a super shuttle to our hotel in Anaheim–which is within walking distance of Disneyland. Sweet!
After checking in at our hotel, Chris and I walked to the nearby Garden Walk shopping center. In search of lunch, there were a bunch of restaurants to choose from!
We settled on Fire & Ice, an all you can eat, create your own grill type of restaurant.
First, I got a salad to start.
Next, I went up to the buffet of different foods to choose my mixings for my meal.
I picked tofu, stir fry noodles, spinach, and banana peppers. We bring our mixings to the grill master and he cooks them up right on the grill for us.
I chose a sesame sauce to go on my stir fry!
It came out great! Very tasty.
I also ordered a sangria with my lunch.
And then went back up to try some more food!
This time I picked some tilapia, calamari, more peppers, and mushrooms with a bbq sauce. It wasn’t as good as the first one, but it was okay.
It was definitely an interesting concept for a restaurant, not something I’d do every day but it was fun.
After lunch we went to check out the shops around Garden Walk and had to stop in the chocolate store for something sweet.
I settled on ice cream! I picked a junior waffle cone of cookies & cream.
If this is the junior, I don’t want to see the large! Eek! Anyway, it was VERY good!
Later in the afternoon we met up with Chris’ friend Liam, the groom, and the bride Brittany. We hung out in their hotel room for a while and then decided to check out Downtown Disney. We took the shuttle over and then walked around a bit checking things out. It has been probably more than seven years since I’ve been to any Disney Park.
First things first, Lego Land!
Chris was a huge fan of Lego Land.
Imaging having these lego sets as a kid? They were awesome! I’m partial to the Harry Potter legos, but they have something for everyone!
Its a miniature Diagon Alley!
We stopped for dinner and drinks in the Rainforest Cafe, which also had a cool concept. It was like literally eating in the rainforest, complete with “thunderstorms” every 20 minutes!
Our table was right next to a large fishtank, so that was awesome! I didn’t end up getting any food because I wasn’t hungry..I think my body was thrown off my the time change. I just enjoyed a small glass of wine. 🙂
Dinner was extremely fun though. I can’t wait to hang our friends again today.
On the agenda: Disneyland!

We went to a Rainforest Cafe while in Nashville – the food wasn’t anything special, but the atmosphere was fun. Exciting that you’ve finally made it to California! Derek and I want to do a baseball stadium tour out there at some point 🙂
