    Local Food for Dinner

Yesterday we made out great with our CSA box, the weekly box of vegetables we get from Otter Hook Farms in Greenville. In yesterday’s box: Swiss chard Basil Sweet corn Parsley Tomatoes Beans So, when one has basil, one must make pesto! I made it before to put on pizza and it came out amazing. I used a slightly different recipe this time because I had no nuts on hand. It came out pretty good, although  I may have used a little bit too much garlic. CSA Week 5 – Chioggia Beets

Its Week 5 of our CSA already! Time flies, really. Each week we’ve been getting delicious produce! So far we’ve gotten lots of spinach, lettuces, garlic scapes, radishes, broccoli, and beets! These beets are cool because they are red and white striped! After some googling, I found out they are called Chioggia Beets!…

We biked 14 miles total! I was impressed with myself, but I was pretty tired by the end. It was lunchtime when we got back, so I decided to make some coconut curry chickpea burgers that I…

You pay for a share, which is usually anywhere from 20-22 weeks, usually from June to October. A share consists of a weekly box of produce that you can either pick up at a drop-off point or get delivered to your place of work (if you are lucky!) Usually farms have a large share or small (sometimes called half) share. I opted for the small share since Chris and I will be sharing…
