Mountain Biking in Sedona, AZ

At the beginning of June, Jordan and I went on a mountain biking trip to Sedona, Arizona. Our good friends Jason and Aubrey invited us on a short mountain biking vacation. We debated renting bikes out there, but because we both love our own bikes, we decided to pack them up and bring them with us. I used the Biknd Jetpack and loved it. It was super easy to take apart the bike and pack it up and my bike stayed safe and sound during travel.

We arrived in Phoenix on Wednesday evening, drove to our rental (a gorgeous house in Cornville, AZ) for one night and then got ready for our ride the next day! Our group consisted of eight–so we rented two large Ford trucks for the occasion. They were more than capable of transporting us, luggage and our bikes.

The first day, we headed into Sedona to ride in Red Rock State Park!

The mountain biking in Sedona is world-class. The trails are phenomenal.

I stuck to the easier trails on the first day–on the Bell Rock trail system. It started to get really warm very quickly. The high temps for the day were in the 90s every day we were in Sedona! For every ride,  I carried about 3L of water plus some Gatorade.

Post-ride we got some delicious Mexican food and made it an early evening because we had big plans for the following day. We had a three-hour drive north from Sedona to Page, AZ for a kayaking trip through Lower Antelope Canyon, located in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. We had to meet our guide at around 7:30am at Lake Powell, so we had to get up super early to get there on time. We booked our tour with Lake Powell Hidden Canyon Kayak and our guide was incredible. I’d highly recommend them if you’re looking to kayak through Antelope Canyon.

After paddling for about an hour, we stopped where it the water meets the canyon floor. We got off the kayaks and started hiking through the canyon! It was incredible.

While we were hiking something special happened.

Jordan proposed!!! Of course, I said yes. And all of our friends were in on it!

It was amaaaaazing!

As you can imagine, we were on cloud nine for the rest of the hike! SO excited for so many more adventures with you, Jordan. <3<3<3.

Eventually, we made it back to the boats for the paddle back out of the canyon. It was an amazing experience, to say the least! On our way back we stopped at the infamous Horseshoe Bend of the Colorado River.

What you can’t see from the photos were the hundreds of tourists taking photos at horseshoe bend! It was about .75 mile walk from the car to the ledge, which was a bit further than I was expecting.

Once we arrived home, I went for a short walk around the neighborhood. The guys had gone on an evening ride, so the girls had some time to kill before making dinner. Our rental was located about a mile from Chapel of the Holy Cross, which was a sight to see! I walked over to check it out.

Loved these purple prickly pear cacti that were all over Sedona!
SO many cacti!

So, I’d have to say so far this trip to Sedona had exceeded my expectations! There’s something about this part of the country that I love. Up next: our first (and final) full day of riding!
