Too Hot to Run
I made it 2.35 miles in this afternoon heat and then called it quits during my lunch break run today. Oh well, at least I got out there and ran. It’s something, right? Some days it is just too hot to run…
Anyway, Chris loved his birthday cheesecake! We actually didn’t end up eating it until around midnight last night, after we got back to Albany. We went on a road trip to Cortland, NY to see one of his close friends play a CD release show in the band Honor Bright. Note: there is nothing in Cortland but windy roads, rolling hills, and farmland. Enough said. But, it was a fun road trip and Chris and I both had fun at the show. 🙂 And the band was pretty awesome.
So when we got back, this was waiting for us.
It was nice and cold from being in the fridge, creamy, chocolatey, and rich. One of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had, and I’m not just saying that because I made it. It was seriously hard to believe that came out of my oven. No lie! Take that Cheesecake Factory!!!!
My slice was a little bit smaller than that, but not by much…
So, after eating cheesecake at midnight, this morning I woke up feeling really tired and in need of caffeine. Thankfully, I found my favorite green tea in the office store this morning. That made me feel much better.
Lunch was more hummus from the cafeteria. I find it difficult to find a healthy lunch at my work’s kitchen. Usually the specials they have consist of mac and cheese, chicken parm, or today’s special, taco salad covered in ground beef. 🙁 Other alternatives include slimy deli meat sandwiches or wraps, and boring salads that consist of brown iceberg lettuce. I’m sure I could order a salad with minimal vegetables, but it definitely would not be worth what they charge down there. I managed to throw together something healthy today. Hummus with pretzels and low-fat yogurt.
The hummus was good, but the yogurt was a letdown. After spoiling myself with Chobani and other types of tasty Greek yogurt, any other kind disappoints me. And I still feel like I need more vegetables in my life today. But that is what dinner is for, right?

I am near Cortland. You can tell because on one of my runs, I had to wait for the cows to cross the road. Not kidding in the least.
Sounds like it was a great time.

The humidity is what honestly what turns me off to running outside. Right now, though, I’d do anything to run at all. GAH!
And um, yes- to the comment above…times 3.
