Good Food and Walks in the Rain
Yesterday was such a busy & fun day in Pittsburgh! (Can you tell I couldn’t come up with a good title for this post??) Chris and I started our morning off right with an easy 2.0 mile run around Squirrel Hill. Its such a nice neighborhood! It was hot and humid at 10:00AM, and we finished our last run before the race in about 21 minutes. Easy peasy. We ended up meeting Chris’ cousin for brunch at Pamela’s Diner, the famous restaurant with the “best breakfast in Pittsburgh”. I was sooo hungry (I skipped breakfast because I slept later than normal and then also ran 2.0 miles), so it was…

Salt of the Earth
Greetings from Pittsburgh! This morning Chris and I flew to Pittsburgh, PA. We’re here visiting his parents and also to run the Pittsburgh half marathon on Sunday. This is my second time visiting the city and I’m super excited! We grabbed lunch at BWI today–Au Bon Pain style. I got the Mediterranean wrap. It was pretty tasty and filling for fast food. I also had some Food Should Taste Good Chips! And they did taste good–ha ha. ๐ We had one short flight from BWI to Pittsburgh and then it was time to get stuck in massive amounts of traffic going into the city. Thankfully we made it just in…

Colossal Sandwiches and Carousels
So, according to Chris, I wussed out on eating a sandwich from Primanti Bros. Truth be told, the sandwich was just too huge for me to bite into all at once. ๐ Yes, there are fries and coleslaw on that sandwich. I ordered the egg & cheese (since all of the other sandwiches at Primanti’s have meat on them). The egg & cheese part was good–but I didn’t know what to make of the fries on the sandwich. I took most of them off. The sandwich was…interesting. ๐ But I suppose eating at Primanti’s is a “must” while you are in Pittsburgh! It’s Chris’ favorite place here. ๐ Chris, on…

Exploring Pittsburgh
Greetings again from Pittsburgh. ๐ Chris and I decided to see the sights (and eat good food) today. It all started here. DeLuca’s Diner supposedly has “the best breakfast in town“, even the guy from Man Vs. Food came here! Chris has been determined to have me eat at all the Pittsburgh staple restaurants while I’m visiting, so DeLuca’s was the first stop today! DeLuca’s had a very hometown diner kind of feel to it! Chris ordered a “mixed grill”, eggs, meat, and veggies. So much food! I, on the other hand, decided to go with the Strawberries & Cream Buckwheat Waffle. I’ve never had buckwheat before, but it didn’t…

Fried Pickles in Pittsburgh
Welcome to Pittsburgh! Chris and I arrived in Pittsburgh this morning (we’re here to visit his parents), and got here just in time for lunch, since we flew! We went to Hofbrauhaus, the German Beer Garden. I guess Hofbrauhaus is also a popular Beer Garden in Germany, and they are suddenly popping up in big US cities. Of course, we ordered beers! I got the Hefe Weizen, a sweet wheat beer. Today, I ate my first fried pickle. Not that its a big thing or anything. I don’t really eat fried foods that often, but I had been hearing lots about them lately. We ordered the sampler app, which came…
