Colossal Sandwiches and Carousels
So, according to Chris, I wussed out on eating a sandwich from Primanti Bros.
Truth be told, the sandwich was just too huge for me to bite into all at once. ๐
Yes, there are fries and coleslaw on that sandwich. I ordered the egg & cheese (since all of the other sandwiches at Primanti’s have meat on them). The egg & cheese part was good–but I didn’t know what to make of the fries on the sandwich. I took most of them off. The sandwich was…interesting. ๐ But I suppose eating at Primanti’s is a “must” while you are in Pittsburgh! It’s Chris’ favorite place here. ๐
Chris, on the other hand, did not wuss out and ate his sandwich like you are supposed to.
If you are unfamiliar, Primanti’s is a notorious sandwich shop in Pittsburgh. Chris thinks the restaurant was started in the 1900s to feed the workers in Pittsburgh’s strip district. And Primanti’s wanted to give the workers one giant meal in a single sandwich, hence, the colossal sandwich.
After lunch, we wandered around near Pitt campus, and then decided to try Dave & Andy’s, a handmade ice cream shop, another “best of” in Pittsburgh!
They had lots of flavors to choose from! I went with the chocolate cookies & creams frozen yogurt. I was so happy to see some froyo! I had it topped with a few m&ms. I think this may have been the best froyo I’ve had in a while.
Today was a gorgeous day in Pittsburgh, and sadly, our last. Chris and I walked around a lot, thankfully. We hung out in Schenley Plaza and listened to some live jazz, and just relaxed.
(isn’t it really funny that there is a triceratops in this carousel?)
Schenley Plaza is located in the middle of Pitt campus, and this one of their buildings, the Cathedral of Learning. How cool would it have been to take a class in there?
I really enjoyed Pittsburgh. It was a relaxing vacation and a really nice city to explore. And I’m glad I got to spend time with Chris and his family. ๐ His mom actually made us both healthy sandwiches for our trip back, which was so awesome of her! His parents eat very healthy, too.
Well. I’m finishing up my post at 20,000 feet (in an airplane). I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I’m running in a 10K tomorrow morning (am I crazy?) so wish me luck. I’m hoping to PR!

That is the most ridiculous sandwich I’ve ever seen! Are you vegetarian?
