Seven Miles of Speedwork and a Running Giveaway

Happy first day of FALL!!! Is it just me or has the weather been weird lately? Yesterday I was freezing and today it was muggy and humid? So strange….BUT I have some great news for you guys, I have another giveaway!!! I will tell you about it in a minute….

But first, want to see something hilarious? I posted this on facebook last night and I got bunch of responses. My pictures from the Warrior Dash were finally available for viewing, and I saw this:

It looks like I’m crying after getting up out of the catskill skid, where my whole head went underwater at the very end of the slide. Yeah…I actually was having fun, despite my facial expression. My mom and I had a good laugh at the photos last night.

Chris’, on the other hand, was way more awesome!

He looks like a real warrior! My warrior! 😉 He should totally order that!

Anyway, in running news, my training schedule has been totally screwed up due to my races and my class on Thursdays, so today I had to get in my seven miles of speedwork. I decided the treadmill would be my best option. I love how running on the good old treadmill seems so much easier after doing most of my training on the road. I got it done!

1 mile warm up
1×1600 @ 8:56
800 recovery jog
1×1600 @ 8:56

1.5 mile cool down

Seven miles done. And it wasn’t too bad. Although, I did notice a tightness in my left leg, and some pain behind my knee. I took a short walking break and it went away, but I hope its nothing serious.

Post run refuel with a chocolate cherry + strawberry bomb.

In the smooooothie:

  • 1/2 cup of almond breeze
  • 1 scoop of chocolate brown rice protein
  • Frozen organic cherries
  • 4 frozen strawberries

Post run dinner was some scrambled eggs, spinach and feta in a whole wheat and flax pita.

I’ve never tried stuffing anything in these pitas before, since I usually just use them as wrap, but they didn’t hold up too well. I kind of just ate the eggs out of the wrap, but it was still so tasty. Scrambled eggs are one of my favorite post-run dinners.

Okay, time has come for me to tell you about my next giveaway! I’ve seen a few other running blogs with this giveaway as well, but that just means its awesome (and more chances to win!) 😉

Brooks has offered to give a lucky reader a pair of their awesome running shorts or a jacket! How awesome is that? I’m already extremely jealous of the winner. Here’s what you can do to win a pair of shorts or a jacket:

Leave a blog comment on this post and answer this question: if you’re a runner, what is the one piece of running/workout gear you can’t live without? Your watch? Shoes? iPod? Let me know! Mine would have to be my iPod, since I feel completely LOST when I don’t have it to run with.

For bonus entries (leave a separate comment for each entry):

1. Go check out the new promo video for the Brooks’ new Glycerin 8 Running Shoe; and leave a comment about it. Its a parody of the show “Lost”, which I have never seen. But I’m sure video is funny. 🙂

2. Go to BrooksRunning.com and tell me what jacket or pair of shorts you would pick if you won.

3. Tweet about my giveaway linking to this post!

4. Subscribe to my blog in google reader or some other feed reading application.

Good luck! 😉 You have until September 29th at midnight to enter (one week). On Thursday, September 30, I will pick a winner. Now get to it!
