Recovery Drink – Insu-Pro Review
Today I tried a new post-workout recovery drink! My Supplement Store offered to send me some samples of their recovery drinks and protein powders. Today after some weight training and spin class I tried the Empyrean Nutrition Insu-Pro recovery drink in watermelon flavor.
I usually just stick to my favorite protein powder but it was nice to try something different! I mixed the drink powder with 8oz of cold water in my blender bottle and it mixed really well (better than protein powder). It tasted pretty good too, but watermelon probably wouldn’t have been my first pick for flavors. Its definitely not something I’m used to but I could see myself using this recovery drink in the future since I felt pretty great afterward.
Here’s some more info about Insu-Pro recovery drink mix, from the website:
Q: Why use Insu-Pro?A: Insu-Pro was developed to rapidly deliver nutrients to muscle cells. Specifically Insu-Pro contains fast absorbing carbohydrates to facilitate an insulin spike, fast absorbing protein, antioxidants, and an insulin mimetic. Many athletes train in multiple disciplines and as a result require the proper nutrients post and/or intra-workout to keep muscles primed for peak performance. With the addition of Na R-ALA, which is not just a powerful anti-oxidant, it is also an inducer of cellular signaling pathways, an insulin mimetic, a hypotriglyceridemic agent, a vasorelaxant/anti-hypertensive compound, a metal chelator, and an adjuvant for neurocognitive function Insu-Pro is simply the best recovery supplement available.
I feel like I’m back in A&P just reading that paragraph! 😉 I would recommend it to someone who lifts weights regularly and wants something to help them recover faster.
Nutrition Info:
1 scoop contains 146 calories, 12.5 grams of protein, 24 grams of carbs and 12 grams of sugar. It’s whey protein based.
Disclaimer: I was sent some free samples from My Supplement Store to try and review on the blog, all opinions are my own.
