Cherry Vanilla Protein Smoothie
It was finally back to the daily grind for me today…so this morning I felt in need of a quick and healthy breakfast. Nutribiotic send me some samples of the vegan brown rice protein powder to try out! I wanted to fit this into my breakfast somehow. I’ve never tried the vanilla rice protein before, I’ve been pretty eager to give this one a shot. I made a cherry vanilla smoothie! It was only 40 degrees this morning, but I wanted it! Shiver!!! Cherry Vanilla Protein Smoothie Ingredients 1 package of nutribiotic vanilla brown rice protein powder 1 cup of original flavor (or vanilla) almond milk 10 frozen organic…

A Celebratory Lunch
Well, after having time to reflect and look back on yesterday, I still can’t believe I ran a half marathon! Since then I’ve been relaxing and icing my foot. The pain seems to come and go–it hurts mostly when walking around, but not when sitting. If it doesn’t get any better this week, I’m going to go see the podiatrist about it. Lets hope its nothing serious, because I have two races coming up in the next 3-4 weeks that I’ve been really looking forward to running. A big thanks to everyone’s wonderful comments on my race recap! They all mean so much to me! 🙂 But anyway, since Chris…

Mohawk Hudson River Half Marathon
The day finally arrived! Today, 10.10.10, was the day I ran my first half marathon! I woke up super early this morning at 5:45AM to eat breakfast, which was two whole grain waffles topped with almond butter and cherry butter. These held me over pretty well. I got dropped off at the start at 7:30AM. Despite the photo, I was FREEZING. It was like 35 degrees this morning, no lie. I had worn an oversized sweatshirt to throw away once I got warmed up, but I took it off for the picture! 😉 After waiting around and freezing my butt off, the race finally started at 8:30AM sharp. And off…

Pre-Race Jitters
Today I have been a bundle of energy in preparation for tomorrow’s big race!! I couldn’t even sleep in this morning, which I wanted to do so badly! I got up at 6:30 am and cleaned my room! Ha! I definitely have a case of the pre-race jitters. And then I had breakfast, raw oats + chobani yogurt + dried berries. I love these. They go perfect in oatmeal and yogurt messes! Yum! However, it hardly held me over through yoga this morning! I took another free class at the Breathing Room this morning, and this time it was jam packed with people! It was great. I really need to…

Green Challenge Month 1: Guide to NY Beer and Wine
Happy Friday everyone! I’m going to try to get in the habit of posting about my Green Challenge every Friday to kind of check in with how we’re doing with it! This week I haven’t been doing any drinking since my half marathon is on Sunday and I’m not going indulge in alcohol until it is over! 😉 Sunday after my 12-miler I did have a beer: Rare Vos, a beer brewed by the Ommegang Brewery in Coopertown, NY! From their website, “Lift the glass to your mouth and enjoy the aroma of spicy orange blossoms. Taste, and the pleasant mellow flavor of caramel malt glides easily into a dry,…
