Date Night at Taste
Last night Chris and I went to a new-to-us restaurant in downtown Albany called Taste. I saw the Groupon deal for dinner and drinks for two so I couldn’t resist. I love trying new restaurants in Albany. Taste was pretty swanky and romantic inside! Perfect place for a date and a late celebration of our three year anniversary!
The Groupon was good for any two entrees and drinks, either a glass of wine or a signature cocktail. I usually never order cocktails so I went with the pumpkin spice drink, which was a cocktail of vanilla vodka and pumpkin spice cream. It was smooth and delicious!
Chris ordered the duck as his entree and I went with the Trio of Tastes — three small vegetable based items, zucchini fritters with a blueberry sauce, a vegetable risotto and grilled seasonal vegetable terrine. The one and only 100% vegetarian option on the entree list. I’m not 100% veg but I would have still liked to see more choices.
Each one was great–but I think my favorite were the zucchini fritters. The blueberry sauce had a tang to it, and I couldn’t place it but it was a great addition. The risotto was creamy but not too rich and the roasted vegetables, I think it was mostly mushrooms, had really good flavor.
Since the portions here aren’t too overwhelming, Chris and I were in the mood for dessert. Chris got the apple cheesecake (made in house daily) and I tried a bite, it was amazing! On the other hand, I got the flourless chocolate cake.
The sliver was minuscule compared to Chris’ cheesecake slice, and it left something to be desired. I guess I was expecting more from this place in way of desserts. I immediately regretted my choice and wished I had gotten the cheesecake too!
Overall, it was a good experience. Taste seems like a great place to celebrate something special. Its expensive, so I probably won’t find myself here again any time soon, but we did enjoy our date night. 🙂
