Virtual Turkey Trot and Thanksgiving Dinner

Happy belated Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great turkey day! I know mine was nice.

I started off the morning with my own turkey trot since I wasn’t running any local races this year. It was a nice little 9 mile loop I also like to call the loop of death because of some monstrous hills. I ran this route a lot during marathon training to get me ready for the race. Its peaceful but the hills are killer–they never get easier.

The run was tough, but I finished it with an average pace of 10:29…I was aiming for 10 minute mile but the hills just slow me down! I don’t think my legs are 100% recovered yet.

After my turkey trot, I headed to my parents for Thanksgiving dinner (or should I say lunch? We always eat super early!)

My plate of goodies. I didn’t have any turkey this year, but I did enjoy the delicious sides my mom made. Of course I went back for seconds of a few. 😉 I think my favorites were the sweet potato casserole and mac and cheese…both of which weren’t even on my plate yet in this picture. My uncle also brought over some New York wines that he got when he visited some wineries. The Riesling was my favorite.

It was a lovely dinner. I’m so thankful I have a great family to celebrate with.
