Collins Triple Reunion 2011
In 2004, the fall of my sophomore year of college, I was in a triple in Collins Hall with two of my friends, Krista and Jackie. We had a crazy, fun time as roommates! Even though the three of us only roomed together for half a year (Krista went to Ireland in the spring so Jackie and I continued to room together) we still became great friends.
(our sophomore trip to NYC!)
Now we only see each other a few times a year. Krista is now living in Queens, and Jackie 1 hour north of the city. Krista invited us down to stay with her for the long weekend!
I arrived at Penn Station Saturday morning. Krista came to meet me and we walked to a bagel place to get breakfast.
I went the omelet route, a greek omelet with a side of whole wheat toast and home fries.
We had the rest of the day to enjoy the gorgeous weather!! Jackie wasn’t driving down until later, so Krista took me to Coney Island.
Apparently the whole five boroughs were at the beach!
Coney Island was a sight to see, for sure!
We wandered down to the beach to enjoy the view.
It was around late afternoon and we were getting hungry, so we hit up one of the bars on the boardwalk. It was rather sketchy, but entertaining none the less. Its fun to people watch! 😉
We both got a drink. Sadly, it wasn’t local. 🙁 But it was good!
After Krista and I finished our drinks the soft ice cream was calling our names. Perfection!
I think that was the first and last time I’ll be at Coney Island! But it was fun, and now I can say I’ve been there! 😉
After our loooong train ride back to Queens (the train was stopped for a while), we finally met up with Jackie for dinner at one of Krista’s favorite spots in Astoria, SoHo.
They focus on healthy, fresh salads and sandwiches and I was really craving something healthy!
I ordered the avocado, sprouts, and red pepper sandwich, which came with a side of bean salad.
And a mango tea for good measure. Delish!
Soho was really cute and the sandwich was healthy and really tasty. It was a great time catching up with Krista and Jackie!

Coney Island definitely seems like a bucket list type of place, especially for those of us who live in the Northeast. I can’t imagine the crowds, though!
