Field Goods and Healthy Greens
I recently signed up for a new vegetable delivery program! You might remember last summer Chris and I signed up for a CSA Program, where from June to October we got a delivery of fresh, locally grown vegetables from Otter Hook Farms! I really liked it, but I didn’t sign up for 2013 because I just didn’t want the commitment. Enter, Field Goods! After reading about Jona’s vegetables every week, I wanted some of my own. Field Goods is almost the same concept as a CSA, except that you pay weekly for a share of vegetables (or fruit, cheese or breads) and you can put it on hold or cancel…

Troy Turkey Trot 10K
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you all had a great day today. I started out my thanksgiving this morning with the Turkey Trot in Troy! It was my third time running this race but the first time doing the 10K. I didn’t really want to leave my apartment this morning to go running in 20mph winds and 23 degrees…but I’ve ran in worse so I had no excuse. Christine and I shivering before the race for started. I did a 2.3 mile warm up before the race to stay warm so once I got running it wasn’t too bad. My only goal for the 10K was to finish under an hour. I…

Dinner at New World Bistro
Friday marked four years from when Chris and I went out on our first date! We decided to celebrate with dinner at one of our favorites, New World Bistro Bar on Delaware Avenue. You must order a bottle of wine when celebrating something, no? For an appetizer I got the street-style calamari, and let me tell you it was one of the best I’ve tried! The sauce was amazing. For dinner I went with the jerk chicken meal, since its supposed to be one of their best dishes. The seasonings on the kale and beans were a little bit too spicy for me, but the chicken was delicious! I…

Belated Scenes from the Weekend
This post is a little late, but better late than never! Last weekend my friend Brendan and I drove down to South Jersey where my sister now lives to visit! We left friday night after work (and after work + class for me), so we didn’t get down there until 9:30pm. Thankfully there was no traffic on the way down! Saturday we had a fun day planned. We went to Laurita Winery in New Egypt, New Jersey for a tasting and to check it out. It was beautiful! Who thinks that new jersey has wineries? Well, it does, and has lots of farm land, too. I never knew! My favorite…

Blueberry Mountain
Bright and early Saturday morning Chris and I drove up to the Adirondacks for some camping & hiking adventures! We were planning on doing another high peak, but Friday I pulled a muscle in my back so I didn’t want to risk hiking with back pain, so we opted to do a shorter, less strenuous hike! Enter Blueberry Mountain! We parked in the Marcy Field parking lot on Route 73 in Keene Valley. The hike up took maybe a little over an hour and 30 minutes. Thankfully my back held up and the pain went away when I started hiking, hurray! Since it was so early there were no…
