Bethlehem Turkey Trot 5K + Thanksgiving Dinner

Happy Thanksgiving! Today marks my 13th (last probably last) race of 2010! And it was the first race I went to completely alone! Not that I minded, but it was weird not having someone there to wait with and chat with and meet at the finish line. Last year I ran the Troy Turkey Trot, and this year I decided to run the first Our Towne Bethlehem Turkey Trot! For one, it is way closer to where I live than Troy, and for two, there are less people running and I had a better a chance of PRing! I woke up early to the sun coming up in my backyard.…

    Typical Sunday

So far my Sunday has been pretty typical. I love when my Sundays consist of relaxing + a longish run. 🙂 This morning started out with some breakfast that I got at the Fresh Market the other day. The serving size for these waffles was weird-210 calories for 3 waffles. But then I opened the package and they were kind of small, so I only had two, drizzled with apple butter and a little bit of almond butter. They were light and fluffy! Probably some of the best frozen waffles I’ve ever had! Frozen waffles are perfect pre-run fuel. 🙂 I headed out for a six mile run at around…

    Enjoying Troy

Today was a pretty low key day. I woke up pretty early to get in a short two mile run. I tried to work some speedwork into it. I did 2 miles in about 20 minutes on the treadmill. It was a nice wake up call! A smoothie for breakfast followed. (Recycled smoothie photo!) In my smoothie this morning: 1 cup almond milk 1/2 packet of Nutribiotic brown rice protein + flax handful of frozen cherries 3 fresh strawberries After my run, I spent the morning with my good friend Marcie! I’ve known Marcie since 8th grade (we were in drama club together!) and she is also a blogger for…

    The Dreaded Snowfall

Yesterday was the start of something I dread every fall–the first snowfall! It’s too soon, I tell you, too soon! I miss my crisp, cool sweatshirt weather, falling leaves and dry sidewalks–perfect for running! I don’t want to run in slushy a wet mess! Boo! I’ll be happy if this is only snow we get for the rest of the winter! 🙂 But I know that is just wishful thinking. This morning I started my day with a bowl of pumpkin pie oats, instead of steel-cut I used regular rolled oats, and it was just as tasty. I think this may be my favorite combo for oats! 😉 1/2 cup of…

    Don’t Fear the Tofu

So, tonight Chris and I made tofu for the first time ever!! Teriyaki tofu to be exact! And it actually came out pretty good! Anyway, Chris and I first went for a six mile run around Albany…I like to call this route the Tour de Albany, since we ran around Washington Park and then down past Lark Street to the Empire State Plaza. It was just getting dark when we got to the plaza, and the towers were lit up, so it looked pretty neat. Its at a moment like that where I do appreciate this city. I just wish I had my camera on me to get a shot.…
