The Nation’s Capitol

Yesterday Alicia and I arrived by train to Washington DC! We are here for the weekend because tomorrow I’m running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler!

After a 2.5 hour ride from Albany to NYC, our train to DC was delayed by 40 minutes. Finally, we boarded and arrived to Union Station at around 2:00pm.

After figuring out how to use the Metro (its actually pretty easy!) we went to our hotel.

We couldn’t check in yet so we wandered around the National Mall and the Smithsonian Castle.

I think the cherry blossoms were on their last legs, but they were still beautiful.

Finally we were able to check into our hotel and get settled.

Soon, it was time to find dinner in DC, with so many options, it was hard to choose! Stay tuned!

    The blossoms are beautiful. My brother lives outside of DC but I’ve never been there for blossom time. When I visit him I do try to get the Metro into the city and check out what’s new at the Smithsonian, especially the Hirshhorn Gallery. Hope it’s a great race!

    yesterday during a trivia game, i was given the question;

    “Who was the first President to visit the circus?”

    i got it wrong.

    it was George Washington.

    I think it was a trick question because he was also probably the first President to do a lot of things – like, you know BREATHE, EAT, SLEEP, etc.
