Pink Beer and The White House
At first for dinner on Friday night, Alicia and I wanted to check out Matchbox Pizza, but after wandering around Chinatown, we couldn’t find it and happened upon Capitol City Brewing Company. Chris had told me about this place and I was really interested in going!
We got there at 5:00 on a Friday with no reservations, and I was surprised that we didn’t have to wait at all for a table! One of their seasonal beers was the Cherry Blossom Ale. Umm yes, please! Alicia and I both got a $3.50 pint, since it was still happy hour and all.
Could my drink be any more girly?
It was pink!
I couldn’t really taste much of a cherry flavor, but the beer itself was pretty good. I was a fan! I’m not really good at judging beers, I just know what I like and what I don’t like. 😉
Our server brought us complimentary pretzels and horseradish dipping sauce. Chris had said they had really good pretzels, too so I was excited we got them. Chris was right, they were great–but the sauce was a bit overwhelming for me!
One of the specials were the fish tacos…so I had to go there! I also got a side of seasonal veggies.
The fish tacos were great–they were in what was supposed to be a corn tortilla. It looked like a flour tortilla to me, but tasted like corn, so I’m not sure. The tacos were flavorful and not too spicy, which was perfect. They were small, but that was okay since I had eaten a 1/2 a bagel on the go after getting off the train not too long before.
Overall–a great experience at our first restaurant in DC!
After dinner it was time to walk off our dinner–literally! Alicia and I decided to do our own walking tour. We walked from Chinatown to Logan Circle (to check out Lululemon, of course) and from there we went to the White House!
Chinatown
Obamaaaa
From the White House we walked back to all the monuments.
Washington Monument, again.
World War II Memorial
Lincoln Memorial
Lincoln Memorial was breathtaking, actually.
Overall we walked over SIX miles from dinner to White House to all the Monuments. Wow, that’s a lot of walking! It was so cool to see all these historic monuments for the first time. It was an awesome experience. I am so lucky to be here.
