Sweltering Shakes
Monday morning in New York was Memorial Day. Jackie had to leave for work pretty early, so Krista and I went out for brunch in Manhattan. I found Friend of Farmer by searching brunch restaurants in New York. Best brunch in New York? I was on a mission to find out! The restaurant was really cool looking! Another farm to table restaurant? I got the vibe inside, but not sure if their ingredients are actually from nearby farms. The menu or website didn’t really say. It was nice inside, but so teeny tiny. We were on top of each other! I ordered the Boomer Special: Scrambled eggs, your choice of…

Barhopping in Hell’s Kitchen
Saturday night while visiting Krista and Jackie in Queens, we decided to take the train back into Manhattan to go out for drinks! We first went to Hell’s Kitchen (no lack of bars there!) and ended up at Riposo 46. I came here back in August with Chris and loved the vibe, so I recommended it to the girls! It is such a cool wine bar. I ordered a Syrah (again, not local. I really failed at the Green Challenge this weekend, unfortunately.) We also ordered a small cheese plate of smoked gouda to go with our wine, which was also pretty tasty, but managed to forget to photograph it.…

Collins Triple Reunion 2011
In 2004, the fall of my sophomore year of college, I was in a triple in Collins Hall with two of my friends, Krista and Jackie. We had a crazy, fun time as roommates! Even though the three of us only roomed together for half a year (Krista went to Ireland in the spring so Jackie and I continued to room together) we still became great friends. (our sophomore trip to NYC!) Now we only see each other a few times a year. Krista is now living in Queens, and Jackie 1 hour north of the city. Krista invited us down to stay with her for the long weekend! I…

Sunday in the City
After a super busy weekend, I am finally getting back into the groove. This weekend went by in a whirl wind. Friday night I went to a sweet sixteen party for my twin cousins, which was a lot of fun Saturday morning I went to Winter Wonderlark for about an hour with my cousin Liz & Marcie. The weather was gorgeous on Saturday (39 degrees in December, I’ll take it), so I decided a long run would be necessary. After Wonderlark I ran a seven mile run outside in 1:08. Not too shabby! Saturday night I went to a fun Christmas party with Chris and his friends. Early Sunday morning we both…

New York, New York – A Foodie’s Dream, Part 1
So, let me recap my lovely/rainy trip to New York City. My cousin Liz, and our friend Beth, and I took the train from Albany to Penn Station. Let me just say, I love food. This is the reason why I had to lose weight to begin with, I loved food too much. But since I’ve started eating healthy, I realized just how much I DO enjoy food, and how to control my eating and to still eat what I enjoy, but not go overboard. When I eat out, I try to pick the healthiest thing on the menu that I know I will like. I almost NEVER order pasta…
