Riding with the Saratoga Women’s MTB Collective

A few months ago I joined the Saratoga Women’s MTB collective, a group on facebook dedicated to ladies who ride. It’s founder, Cath, had recently moved to the capital region and couldn’t find a women’s riding group so she started her own. Now there are 60+ members! Cath organizes group rides (held the second Sunday of the month!) as well as bike maintenance clinics at Blue Sky Bicycles. Yesterday I went on my first group ride at KP Trails in Saratoga.

At first, the ride was a bit out of my comfort zone as I’m not used to riding with unfamiliar people. However, everyone was very welcoming and friendly. It was a no drop, all abilities ride, which was nice because I’m used to being left in the dust and riding by myself.

We rode about 4 miles and then stopped at the parking lot. A few of us decided to continue on for a few more miles. We rode a total of 6.3 miles.

There is some fun singletrack at KP trails– with some climbing. I’m hoping to check out more of the trails here in the future. On the way home, I stopped at Luther Forest to check out the condition of the trails. I rode one twists & turns loop and got pretty cold (it was in the low 30s) so decided to call it. The trail I rode was in pretty good shape but I can’t speak for the lower sections of trail!

I’m excited for an awesome season of mountain biking and looking forward to more rides with the Saratoga Women’s MTB collective!
