The Berkshire Backroads Gravel Grinder (B2G2) – 4.24.21
My first official gravel grinder of 2021 is in the books! On Saturday, I rode the Berkshire Backroads Gravel Grinder in West Stockbridge, MA! A 38-mile ride with lots of vert was the perfect opportunity to test out my “new” bike setup. The weather was also ahhhh-mazing. We had the most perfect day for a ride! The ride was scheduled to start at noon, however, they offered an early 10:30am start to slower riders (yes, please!) I met my friends Margaret and Jeff there, and off we went. I’ll admit I was a bit nervous before this ride. BikeReg stated there’d be over 3500 ft of climbing, which I haven’t…

A Professional Bike Fitting Experience
A few weekends ago, Jordan and I drove up to Poultney, Vermont so I could get a professional bike fitting. A bike fitting is when a professional take a measurement of your body, observe you riding your bike, and then makes adjustments to ensure you have the bike set up properly for comfort (and in a racer’s case, maximum speed and power output). Ever since I got my gravel bike in May of 2018, my hands have gone numb on longer rides. I had tried everything to prevent this from happening, including trying all different types of gloves—pads, no pads, fingerless, and full-fingered— to no avail. I have always loved…

ACL Recovery – 1 Year Post Op Update
Well, it has officially been over a year since my ACL surgery! There really isn’t anything new to report, however, one thing I did finally conquer was the box jump at the gym last month. This thing had been my nemesis after injuring my knee. Before my injury, I had no issues doing them. It may seem silly, but it was important to me to be able to do box jumps again. One day, at the beginning of my workout, I decided to just go for it, and completed 3 x 10 24 inch box jumps! I was thrilled! The key was starting at the beginning of my workout so…

Snowshoeing Berlin Mountain, Taconic Crest Trail – 2.6.2021
Looking to explore something different? Check out the Taconic Crest Trail. Located on the border of NY and MA, the Taconic Crest Trail is only 45 minutes outside of Albany. It is not an area I have explored very much but hope to do more hiking here soon! The Taconic Crest Trail is a 37 mile long hiking trail that winds through NY, VT and MA with some gorgeous views along the way. Last weekend, Jordan and I met our friend at the Berlin trailhead to do some snowshoeing, while our friend was planning on backcountry skiing. We hiked up the side of the mountain, following skin tracks (not an…

ACL Recovery Log – 11 Months Post Op & Return to Skiing!
Today marks 11 months post ACL surgery. I can’t believe it’s been 11 months already. It seemed like just yesterday when I had the long road of recovery ahead of me. And now I can consider myself 100% recovered! This past weekend my friend Kait, an instructor at a small, local ski resort, got Jordan and I passes to ski at West Mountain. I was so thankful she got us passes so I could test out my knee on the slopes without paying the hefty price tag of a lift ticket. I was concerned I’d only be able to do a few runs and waste $$$, so I was glad…
