Office Holiday Bake Off

Yesterday was our office Holiday Party! It was held as a luncheon at the Pump Station this year! The food was quite delicious (lots of veggies!), potatos, salad and a vegetarian pasta primavera.

But after the luncheon was my favorite part of the party. The bake off! This is the first year we’ve officially had a bake off at our holiday party, and I was excited so I made two desserts to enter into the contest.

Chocolate Heath Bar Truffles (adapted from Bon Appetit Magazine’s Butterfinger Truffles, I just switched out butterfingers for crushed heath bar)

and a Brownie Tarte with Nutella Ganache.

Both were ridiculously easy to make! I didn’t try the tarte but my co workers said it came out great!

I definitely had a few truffles and they were SO good. However, the recipe said the yield was 80 truffles, and I only got 40. Apparently I made them a little too big, but I guess I can’t imagine eating tiny truffles when you can already just pop them into your mouth!

There were a lot of other amazing contenders in the bake off…

These sugar cookies made by my friend Melissa are AMAZING! Probably my favorite cookie here. They look so professional.

Shorty after, the winners were announced!

A key lime pie won in the pie/cake category. My friend cookies (above) won in the cookie category and guess what won the novelty category?

My Truffles!!

Hurray! This is the first time I ever won at any type of baking contest..or entered in one at all for that matter! The prize was a bottle of spiked eggnog and a Bruegger’s gift card! Sweet! 🙂

Have you ever entered into a bake off? If so, did you win?!
