Meals, Miles, Looks, and Books for June
Happy Four of the July! Hope you all have some fun today celebrating!
Amber‘s blog gave me the idea for this post. I thought this sounded fun way to recap June. Here we go.
Meals
In June I tried to get better at meal planning. I made a recipe from my Moosewood cookbook called a Mexican Pepper Casserole that turned out really tasty.
I also went to Xs to Os for a tasty vegan brunch! They had a kale salad, tempeh bacon, sweet potato and squash hash, and a tofu “egg” casserole. It was delicious!
At the end of June when I went to Pittsburgh, I tried Ethiopian food for the first time. It was delicious!
I also made some curried lentils for the first time, and they came out great! They would be super tasty along with some naan.
Miles
I ran zero running miles for June. However, I had 160 cycling miles (not counting spinning). This included a 36 mile ride through the Helderbergs, and 44 miles on the GAP in Pittsburgh, my longest ride to date! I love me some biking this month.
Looks
The first few weeks of June were unseasonably cold and rainy. Thank goodness I didn’t put away my sweaters! This one is one of my favorites, a cute polka dot sweater from the clearance section at Old Navy.
I also scored a pair of Sorel rain boots discounted online. They are really bright and cheery for rainy days and the polka dot laces don’t hurt either!
Books
I read a total of 4 books in June, but the two that most stood out for me were “Sharp Objects” By Gillian Flynn and “The Light Between Oceans” By ML Stedman.
I loved Sharp Objects–I’ve read all of Gillian Flynn’s novels and this one was one of my favorites. I think its a tie between this one and Dark Places. I liked Gone Girl the least. Sharp Objects was such a page turner. It is also a very dark mystery, which I actually like when it comes to books.
The Light Between Oceans was good too. Tons of people had told me to read it, and I finally got it on my kindle and read it in a few weeks, such a good story!
There you have it! I can’t believe its already July 4th. Summer is flying.

Funny I think I read half of Light Between the Ocean and put it down. I just couldn’t get through the book. I was thinking of downloading Flyns books..sounds like I really should now 🙂
