Highlights of 2012

I can hardly believe 2012 is coming to a close. It’s been a pretty good year, if I do say so myself! 😀

In March, Chris & I took a vacation to Florida–we visited my parents, and we all drove through the Florida Keys to Key West.

The spring was a whirlwind! I traveled to New York City with blogger buddy Alicia and ran a half marathon in Central Park!

May was a BIG month. I also went to Pittsburgh on my birthday to visit Chris’ parents and run the Pittsburgh Half Marathon.

And we also went to California…! We went to a beach wedding and also hit up Disneyland.

In May we also moved in together to a new apartment, complete with a patio, perfect for summer grilling.

Summer 2012 brought a big challenge–training for my first marathon. And at the end of July, Chris and I took a trip to the Adirondacks and stayed in a lodge–we canoed, hiked, and enjoyed good food. It was so much fun! This trip made me realize the Adirondacks are one of my favorite places to be.

Fall was also pretty busy. Along with the changing leaves cooler temps, it also brought double digit long runs and ice baths due to a pick up in marathon training–my first 15 miler all the way to the big 20 miler.

The end of September also brought a new kind of race for me–The Ragnar Relay! Chris and I ran 200 miles with 10 other teammates from Saratoga to Lake Placid. Fun times were had by all…and not much sleep.

In October Chris and I went to NJ where he and our friend Brian ran their first Tough Mudder, a 12-mile crazy obstacle course/mud run. Jackie and I spectated and had a blast following the guys around the course.

As fall came to a close, so did marathon training. In November, Chris, Melissa and I took the train to Richmond, Virgina to run 26.2 miles through the city on November 10th. And we did it! I was on such a post-marathon high in the weeks following, I registered for #2, the Vermont City Marathon for May 2013.

The 2012 race season went out with a bang (literally)–when I ran the Last Run 5K through the holiday lights in the park in December. It was a great race to end the year with.

Well, 2012 was a pretty great year with traveling, marathoning and  moving… if I do say so myself. Here’s to an even better 2013!
