    Recovering From Plantar Fasciitis

I’ve been suffering from the dreaded Plantar Fasciitis on and off for almost as long as I’ve been running. When I was training for my second marathon, it was the worst it had ever been. I took a month and half off from running to let it heal and I’ve been pain-free for the first time in months.  When I was suffering from the pain I googled every treatment all over the internet…and here’s what I’ve been doing to help speed recovery process and help my feet stay healthy! Keep in mind that I’m no doctor, but these are the techniques that work for me and helped me recover from…

    Making A Salad to Go

I’ll have to admit that when marathon training, the last thing I want to eat is a huge bowl of salad…since I usually crave carbs 90% of the time when I’m training. But with my mileage down lately because of my foot injury, I’ve been trying to eat a lot more greens and vegetables. I’ve been enjoying large salads for lunch every day and I feel so much better about getting my veggies in! Running at Night Safely

Wednesday night after work I braved the cold air and darkness to go on a run. Running has been hard for me lately. I’ve been struggling with motivation to run since I’m loathing the treadmill and dreading running in the dark (more so for my safety…) and the cold temperatures.   Wearing our reflective gear during Ragnar Relay was a must! So You Want to Run a Relay Race

Relay Races are becoming more and more popular it seems. And if you are as crazy as I am, like running you might want to do something like this.  After running the Adirondack Ragnar Relay, I learned A LOT about these big races. I really had no clue what to expect going into it. Except we’ll be running. At night. A lot. SO much planning has to go into these races and thankfully this one went off without a hitch. Our team got along great and we had no big problems during the race!  We didn’t even get lost. Hurray! Anyway, I’d figure I’d write up a little post with…

    My Long Run Rituals

Every runner has specific rituals they perform before a long run or race. We try different things the night before/morning of running so we know what to expect come race day! I thought it would be kind of fun to tell you about what I do to prepare for a long run/long race. The day/night before Avoid dairy! I don’t avoid it 100% the day before I run long or race, but for dinner I try to limit my dairy consumption. For example, I won’t eat a meal with loads of cheese or ice cream for dessert. I know when I do this I never have deal with stomach problems…
