    I’m Running a Marathon Tomorrow

So yeah, I’m running a marathon tomorrow. In the rain. But running in the rain is nothing new here. If you follow me on twitter, the last few days have been filled of tweets regarding the state of Vermont’s weather, but alas, I cannot control it, so I just need to ignore it and try to be prepared as I can be. This may have involved purchasing a rain and wind proof running jacket at the expo today. Anyway, it rained our entire drive to Vermont, and even on the ferry. Typical ferry weather. It was my first time ever taking a ferry by car, so it was kind of…

    2013 Shamrock Run

Sunday Chris and I drove down to Kingston for the Annual Shamrock Run. This race is so funny. There are 5,000 people are running (and walking) down Broadway in Kingston to get to the end where they give out free beer from Keegan Ales, green bagels and shamrock cookies. This year was so crowded! I realized after running this race multiple times that you can’t run it for time–just for fun. My foot was feeling sore from the previous day’s long run so I took it easy. We finished in under 22 minutes! We wasted no time and went right to the post-race party for beer and green bagels. My…

    Crossroads Brewery

Another Sunday night, another weekend gone. Seriously, weekends go by way too fast! Friday night was spend celebrating yet another one of my friend’s birthday. My friend Melissa invited a bunch of us to the Point for dinner and drinks. I couldn’t resist the sparking moscato and had two glasses of this delicious drink. I seriously need to find myself a bottle of that! We had a pretty fantastic time! Saturday morning I did my long run (more on that later), but after resting up my sister Julie and her boyfriend Brian invited me to go to Crossroads Brew Pub! Located in Athens, about 40 minutes south of Albany, Crossroads…

    Valentine’s Dinner at Pump Station

I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day! Hope it was better than Grumpy Cat’s… Our V-day dinner was nice and low key. We went out right after work before the big crowds hit. Chris and I went to the Pump Station, one of our favorite local brewery/restaurants. I ordered the 10oz Bock, which was very tasty! I really like that they have the option of the smaller size, too, in case I didn’t end up liking it that much. Thankfully I liked it! Chris got the onion rings, which I’d never tried before. They are beer-battered and not overly fried, which I really liked! The crispy coating was…

    Tour at Albany Distilling Co.

Saturday during our brief little snow storm, my sister, her boyfriend Brian and I braved the elements to the Albany Distilling Company in downtown Albany. We got a tour of the distillery, which is pretty small, but it was really interesting. They get all their grains for producing the spirits from local NY State farms! This thing was cool–all the grains go into this thing and turns them into a porrige-like consistency before the distillation process. And then the good stuff comes out of here eventually. After the tour we got to sample some whiskey–the Coal Yard, an unaged whiskey, which was clear and looks like vodka! And the darker…
