Hiking Giant Ledge and Panther Mountain – Catskills
Finally, a weekend spent (almost) entirely outside!! I have been waiting for this. To keep up with goal of hiking one mountain per month, yesterday I went hiking with Chris and our friends Meredith and John. It was a PERFECT day. Yesterday’s high was 80 degrees. There is still a ton of snow in the Adirondacks, so we decided to try another hike in the Catskills. Giant Ledge and Panther Mountain not far from Slide where we hiked the last time. Most of the snow was completely gone, but when we got to higher elevations there was about a foot in some spots. We decided to leave our snowshoes behind…

Blueberry Mountain
Bright and early Saturday morning Chris and I drove up to the Adirondacks for some camping & hiking adventures! We were planning on doing another high peak, but Friday I pulled a muscle in my back so I didn’t want to risk hiking with back pain, so we opted to do a shorter, less strenuous hike! Enter Blueberry Mountain! We parked in the Marcy Field parking lot on Route 73 in Keene Valley. The hike up took maybe a little over an hour and 30 minutes. Thankfully my back held up and the pain went away when I started hiking, hurray! Since it was so early there were no…

Weekend in a Nutshell
Well, this weekend just flew by. I spent a majority of my weekend in New Jersey visiting my sister who just moved there at the end of May! Friday I drove down to South Jersey and I got there in time to hit up the shore. We only spent about an hour there since she lives only 15 minutes from Seaside. We walked the boardwalk because it was too cold and windy to enjoy the beach. Still pretty, though! We also had a drink at the Spicy Cantina. I had my first Blendini from Rita’s, an oreo custard mixed with mint chocolate chip Italian ice. Pretty tasty. Friday night was…

Pittsburgh Brews and Dinner at Abay
Yesterday Chris and I wanted to try some of Pittsburgh’s local brews! We drove over to East End Brewing Company to check them out. We sampled a bunch of theirs beers, all of which were good! I think my favorite was the Monkey Boy hefeweizen. I also tried their stout. It was sooo dark. A bit too much for me! Chris got a growler of the Monkey Girl, a dunkelweizen that we later had on the porch. It was good and almost tasted like a sour beer! East End did have a sour beer but it was really sour. The dunkelweizen tasted good! Overall it was a awesome tasting experience…

More Burlington Highlights
So, on Sunday after the marathon, we showered and changed. Then Loretta, Tina (Loretta’s relay partner) and I went to the Magic Hat Brewery in South Burlington. They had a lot of cool merchandise and were letting us sample four of their beers. We each got a punch card for the sampler. The samples were free, we just had to tip the bartender. The Elder Betty, one of their summer beers, was my favorite! There weren’t any tours on Sunday, but we got to go look around at the factory from above. I kind of wish we could have had a pint of beer or two, but the samples were…
