Weekend in a Nutshell

Well, this weekend just flew by. I spent a majority of my weekend in New Jersey visiting my sister who just moved there at the end of May!

Friday I drove down to South Jersey and I got there in time to hit up the shore. We only spent about an hour there since she lives only 15 minutes from Seaside. We walked the boardwalk because it was too cold and windy to enjoy the beach.

Still pretty, though!

We also had a drink at the Spicy Cantina.

I had my first Blendini from Rita’s, an oreo custard mixed with mint chocolate chip Italian ice.

Pretty tasty.

Friday night was pretty low key. We stayed in for dinner since we had a big day on Saturday!

Julie, Brian and I spent the day in Philadelphia, an hour away from where they live in Jersey. First, we made a stop at Yards Brewery.

I got a flight of four of their Revolutionary Ales.

  • Thomas Jefferson’s Tavern Ale
  • Poor Richard’s Tavern Spruce (tasted like a Christmas tree, not a big fan of that one!)
  • General Washington’s Tavern Porter
  • Love Stout (probably my favorite of the ones I tried!)

After our stop at the Brewery it was time for some tailgating!

We had tickets to see the Phillies play at Citizens Bank Park, my first baseball game (I know, right?). It was actually my first major league sporting event (not including NASCAR).

It was super hot (above 90*) and our seats had no shade, but it was still really fun! I was really impressed with this baseball stadium. It was so big! We had a great view of the field, and also of the Philadelphia skyline. Pretty neat.

Of course I had to cool down with some soft-serve, complete with a Phillies helmet. It was delicious.

The game ran really late so we didn’t get home until after 9PM. There was a minor rain delay but on the plus side, there was a rainbow.

Sunday morning we slept in and decided we didn’t want to spend another day in the sun since it was already super humid and well above 80 degrees by 10. The three of us went to the Jackson Outlets to see if we could score any deals. I found a pair of flats at the J. Crew factory store (originally $90, I got for $21!) and two Under Armour tanks on sale at their outlet. Score.

So that was my weekend in a nutshell. What did you do?

Short weekend getaway in Hat Yai (southern Thailand; an hour by flight from Kuala Lumpur) – cheap shopping, ran a small local race and enjoyed the Thai hospitality (always!).
    Sue recently posted..Ouch!
