Back to the Grind

Yesterday after returning from Pittsburgh, I had a final exam to study for. Thankfully I felt like I knew my stuff well, so I re-read my notes on the plane and studied a bit when I got home.

The test was pretty easy, and I think I did pretty well! ๐Ÿ™‚

I know it may seem like I’m constantly eating out and doing interesting things (ha), today was definitely not an interesting day! Back to the grind for me. Thankfully today my legs have felt almost 100% better! I am going to the gym in a bit to get in some cardio.

But today breakfast was simple: Kashi Heart to Heart cereal with topped some Mu Mu Muesli that I picked up from the bulk bin at the Troy Co-Op the other night. (It is made locally!) I also dabbed on some TJ’s sunflower seed butter.

I’m loving the muesli! It added some crunchiness/chewiness to the cereal.

I tried a new style of greek yogurt for my morning snack: Athenos Greek Strained Yogurt. I picked up two flavors at the grocery store last night (I had a BOGO free coupon). Today I tried the peach. I liked it–the fruit part wasn’t overly sweet and the yogurt was nice and thick.

I liked it–but honestly I still like Chobani better! I did really like the nutrition stats though.

Now, onto lunch. Did you know I almost always pack my lunch for work? I can’t remember the last time I actually bought lunch during the week. It’s probably been over a year. It saves money and its also much healthier to “brown bag it”.

  • Veggie sandwich on toasted whole wheat bread (lettuce, peppers, tomatoes and goat feta)
  • Apple
  • Strawberries
  • Chocolate covered pretzels from “Nuts on Clark” <–Chicago Airport find!

And my afternoon snack, which I ate soon after lunch since I was still hungry (I’m blaming the half marathon.)

Today I also picked up a CDTA swiper card. Friday is “Green Your Commute Day” at work…and I’m taking the bus! My ride on the CDTA is free all day on Friday.

The bus commute is about 20 minutes longer than my drive, but I may be utilizing the bus in the future. Gas prices are OUTRAGEOUS! And its way to be greener. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m going to write more about greening my commute later this week.

What is your preferred transportation? Bus, Car, Bike, or Walk?

Nuts on Clark is AMAZING. I always stop there for praline pecans when I’m flying through Chicago ๐Ÿ™‚

Riding the bus to work is seriously impressive. I’m way too much of a wuss to do that.

I’d bike to work – it’s only 5 miles – but I don’t want to ride on Fuller Rd, Central Ave, etc. Maybe in the future, when we have bike lanes everywhere.
I like Chobani too. It’s either that or I make my own yogurt. My typical breakfast is yogurt with Mu Mu Muesli, ground flax seed, or just plain oatmeal on top.

Chobani is still the bomb! I tried Dannon greek yogurt and it was HORRIBLE! So sweet!

I took the bus to work every day when I worked in Downtown Albany. I LOVED it! Some bad parts, such as waiting for the bus. But it gave me some time to myself to listen to music, think about my day AND help save the planet! I still miss taking the bus now that I work in Latham ๐Ÿ™ And buying gas sucks too!

taking the bus? that is so adventurous of you! I have lived in Albany 21 years and never been on a CDTA bus, but then again, you know I live in the boonies ๐Ÿ˜‰ lol I finally got some chobanis because they were consistently sold out at the grocery store, and now they’re sitting in my fridge and I should probably eat one before they go bad, haha.
