Apple Picking with Blends
Hola everyone. Hope you all are having a great weekend! Yesterday I got to spend time with some awesome Blends (Blogger Friends) and we went apple picking at Indian Ladder Farms along with a delicious brunch at their Yellow Rock Cafe.
My blends are Lauren, Cynthia, Becca, Heather and my newest blends Nicole and Chelle!
First, brunch!
The Yellow Rock Cafe is located right inside Indian Ladder, along with their country store. I ate brunch here one other time after Yoga with Breathing Room.
I went with one of their speciality sandwiches called the “Adirondack”: spinach, avocado, tomato and fresh mozzarella on crispy bread. It was fantastic. I believe they bake their own bread here…and it was super tasty and the crust was nice and crispy.
Heather got some cheese curds, which I have never tried before! We shared them. They were so good! Why don’t more restaurants have these on their menu?
I got the apple iced tea to drink, the most amazing concoction of iced tea and apple cider. It was great.
Then we got to apple picking!
Indian Ladder charges by the bag–$14. Which is an increase from last year ($12), but I justify it by this: I only pick apples ONCE a year, I’m supporting a local business, picking apples that are grown locally, and stuffing as many apples as possible into my bag. 🙂 We picked Empires and Kendalls. DELISH.
Some apples were HUGE.
After picking apples to our heart’s content, we headed back to the store…where I just had to get this.
The Indian Ladder Farm’s cider donut. AKA: the best cider donuts in town. They are sugary delicious, and crispy on the outside…and still warm from the oven. So. Amazing. One of the reasons that fall is my favorite.
AND you can even watch them making donuts through the window. How cool is that? This was my favorite thing when I was little.
Mmm cider donuts.
Anyway, this is supposed to be a healthy living blog! Ahem…
So, after parting with my blog friends, I had to go meet up with my friend/co-worker, Sarah and her sister. We were going to go to the Spinning Room in Altamont (a yarn shop…) It was such a cute and cozy place with tons and tons of beautiful yarn! Okay, I won’t bore you that much with my knitting talk, but I got some amazing baby alpaca yarn and I’m going to attempt to make this.

Anyway…after our yarn buying spree, Sarah and I drove around the hilltowns outside of Altamont, and came across this little surprise.
Local produce galore!! I ended up snagging an eggplant, a yellow tomato (which I believe are low acid tomatoes?), a butternut squash, and a green pepper, for $2.25. Not too shabby!
Well, I am relaxing now, since I just finished my FIRST ever 10 mile run, but I will write more on that later…So STAY TUNED! 🙂
Oh, and don’t forget to ENTER MY BROOKS RUNNING GIVEAWAY! You could score some sweet running gear.

That scarf looks really neat! I attempted to learn to knit a few years ago. I’d rather be baking. 😉
