A Hard 10 Miler
Can I just say how tired I am of wearing my winter running gear?? I want Spring, now! And yes, I’m going to keep complaining until it reaches 50 degrees.
I had 10 miles on the agenda for today–so 10 miles it was.
I fueled with pumpkin pancakes left over from brunch yesterday! More about the brunch later.
I’ve decided pancakes make the best running fuel!
Two hours after breakfast I finally made it outside. I wanted to wait for it to get a little warmer, but I didn’t think it would. It wasn’t even 30 degrees when I left my house.
I ran my usual route. At mile 1.0 my legs felt really fatigued, probably due to the 45 minutes I spent on the Arc Trainer at the gym yesterday.
I really really really wanted to quit. I was cold, the wind kept blowing, and my legs felt like lead. I stopped at mile 6.0 to get a Vanilla Clif Shot (I like Vanilla Gu better!) and that didn’t even really help. I just wanted to be DONE!
Garmin Stats – my splits are so random.
Well, despite my bad run, at least I’m ready for my race next weekend! I’m really looking forward to running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler!
I came home and had a bowl of vanilla Chobani with fruit, blueberry muesli & chia seeds.
And I slice of quiche leftover from yesterday! Mmm.
I also may have had this amazing vegan cookie that I got at Flavour Cafe last weekend (and saved for a post-long run treat).
It was so good. It was dense and so chocolately, an awesome cookie!
Anyway–yesterday Katie and Melissa came over for brunch, hence the delicious quiche and pancakes!
Katie brought the Mediterranean quiche and Melissa brought fruit salad and yogurt.
We spent some time eating, chatting and birdwatching!
We determined this chubby little guy was a slate-colored junco. Birdwatching as new hobby? Maybe.
Anyway–I’m off to relax. That run took a lot out of me! Have a nice Sunday!

Nice job on the run!!! 10 miles is impressive!!! I’m hoping to work up to that after my 10k next weekend.
And I’m SO with you on the weather. It’s gotten warm here in VA, but then this morning it snowed. What the heck?!

You’re such an inspiration! I was supposed to do 10 yesterday and it just never happened. Good for you for doing it, especially in the cold!
