A Good Run

Finally, an 8.0 mile run that was actually pretty good! Lately I’ve been struggling with my long runs. My legs usually feel fatigued from Body Pump, and the weather is usually humid and uncomfortable for running.

Thankfully, I made sure to hydrate well yesterday (and avoid alcohol) since I had an 8.0 mile run planned for Sunday, and I didn’t want to compromise it!

I got up and fueled with a bagel with sunflower butter, green tea and water and then headed out shortly after.

I went to a local bike trail not too far from my apartment since its the perfect distance for an out and back, 4.0 miles.

The first mile was a little bit slow and I was unsure of how the rest of the run was going to be, but thankfully I found my groove after the first mile. I felt pretty good and the miles ticked by.

Its been awhile since I’ve uploaded Garmin stats so here you go:

Total Distance – 8.55 miles

Total Time – 1:20:30

Average Pace – 9:24/mile

Splits

Mile 1 – 10:07

Mile 2 – 9:31

Mile 3 – 9:16

Mile 4 – 9:18

Mile 5 – 9:27

Mile 6 – 9:14

Mile 7 – 9:18

Mile 8 – 9:24

Mile .55 – 4:52

After my run I decided to make some pumpkin pancakes for my sister and I (she was staying at my place this weekend). They tasted great but didn’t look so great since I burned them a bit.

Part of what gets me through my run is the music I’m listening to. Before I left I added a few new songs to my iPod…a few of which were from the Glee Soundtrack. This one got me through the last few miles–I’m not gonna lie, but I definitely had it on repeat. End confession. PS: I’m not a fan of Journey but I actually really like this song when the Glee cast sings it!
