Eating My Way Through DC: A Vegan Dinner
One of my favorite things about DC was the amazing food. Living in Albany my whole life had me sheltered. We have a few restaurants that I adore–but other than that, its pretty mundane. I love having options when it comes to dining out, and DC definitely did not lack options. Saturday night before the big race, Alicia and I googled our way to dinner. We decided on Busboys & Poets, a trendy restaurant near the Mount Vernon Triangle. They seemed like the menu had vegetarian and options and they were also eco-friendly. Everything on the menu looked great, and it was extremely hard for me to choose! I wanted…

Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run
Yesterday I had a wonderful day in Washington DC. I was on the go from 6:30AM to 9:30PM with only a break to shower after the race. Alicia and I got up bright and early so I could get ready for the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run. I had been planning on running this race since December when I found out I got picked in the lottery that I entered before then. I was so shocked I got picked, I never in a million years thought I would be running this race! We only had a 10 minute walk from our hotel to the race start, so that was awesome.…

Race Expo and Matchbox Pizza
We saw the Capitol on the way. It had just started to rain as we walked toward the Museum, perfect timing, I say. There was so much to see in the museum. An entirely crotched and knitted coral reef. ... I did manage to get a shot of this emerald necklace, though. We also saw the orchid exhibit . There is just so much to see in this city, it impossible to do it all in one day!

The Nation’s Capitol
Yesterday Alicia and I arrived by train to Washington DC! We are here for the weekend because tomorrow I’m running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler! After a 2.5 hour ride from Albany to NYC, our train to DC was delayed by 40 minutes. Finally, we boarded and arrived to Union Station at around 2:00pm. After figuring out how to use the Metro (its actually pretty easy!) we went to our hotel. We couldn’t check in yet so we wandered around the National Mall and the Smithsonian Castle. I think the cherry blossoms were on their last legs, but they were still beautiful. Washington Monument. The Smithsonian Castle. The Enid A.…
