My Custom 2022 Kona Rove DL Gravel / Adventure Bike
Back in October I started talking to the guys at Evergreen Bicycle Works in Fort Edward, NY about ordering a new gravel bike: a Kona Rove! I had considered a few other options like the All City Gorilla Monsoon or the Kona Sutra, and I knew I wanted a steel gravel bike to withstand the type of riding I do. I ultimately settled on a Kona Rove DL. After much discussion with the shop, we decided on ordering a frame and building it from the ground up. There was a very long waits for a complete bike, and ordering the frame would most likely arrive quicker, and would also allow…

A Professional Bike Fitting Experience
A few weekends ago, Jordan and I drove up to Poultney, Vermont so I could get a professional bike fitting. A bike fitting is when a professional take a measurement of your body, observe you riding your bike, and then makes adjustments to ensure you have the bike set up properly for comfort (and in a racer’s case, maximum speed and power output). Ever since I got my gravel bike in May of 2018, my hands have gone numb on longer rides. ACL Recovery Log #13 – 10 Weeks Post Op
This past weekend I celebrated my 35th birthday! The weather was beautiful, and I was able to get outside and ride the bike! Jordan and I decided to ride with some friends (while maintaining a safe distance) on the Vischer Ferry trail. Since it’s not far from our house we thought it would be a nice place to ride since it’s flat. But everyone else had the same idea—the trail was crowded in some spots. We wore our buffs that we pulled up whenever we passed other people. But the number of people NOT wearing face-covering was surprising. We rode 7 miles out and back—on the last few miles I…

Riding the Farmer’s Daughter Gravel Grinder
Riding a Gravel Grinder has been on my bucket list. Gravel grinders are challenging endurance bike events that are typically ridden on gravel or dirt roads. The best bikes for these events are gravel bikes, cyclocross bikes or even hardtail mountain bikes. Jordan and I both recently got gravel bikes, mainly because we wanted a bike to ride a gravel grinder! The Farmer’s Daughter starts at Crellin Park in Chatham, about a 30 min drive from Albany. There were no race bibs or timing chips, this was just a large group ride, with some serious riders! A total of 65 miles, the Farmer’s Daughter course rides along the hills of Chatham…
