Speedwork

I wasn’t originally going to post tonight because I’m feeling super lazy but I decided to go ahead because I do have some interesting things to say.

This morning I made another smoothie attempt with my new rice protein, and I went the green monster route. I threw in:

  • 1/2 cup of almond breeze
  • 1 banana
  • 1 handful of spinach
  • 1/2  scoop of rice protein powder
  • 1/2 tsp of maca powder
  • 1 tsp of chia seeds

It tasted like…medicine! But I drank it anyway. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions for those who have tried rice protein before? I know it has great benefits but I’m just having trouble making it taste good. Whey tasted way better, but my stomach couldn’t handle it. Damn you rice protein! Stop tasting like mud!

Anyway, my morning snack was way better.

Fage yogurt from HWFC! Bonus: It’s made locally, in Johnstown!! It is rich and creamy…dare I say…thicker than Chobani? I enjoyed it.

After work I headed to the gym for some speedwork on the treadmill.  I contemplated running outside for about five seconds, and decided treadmill would be way easier for me. I’m so glad I decided that because I felt incredible during my run! (The gross smoothies must be working?) I ran seven miles total in 1:09:25. Here’s the breakdown of the speedwork, which I followed directly from my training schedule.

1 mile warm up, 3×1600 @ 8:57 with 800 jog, 1.5 mile cool down

And I was sore today from my Level 2 workout of Yoga Meltdown, so I was extremely sore when I got off that treadmill. I could hardly stretch on the mat my legs were hurting so bad! I was committed to this workout though. And I was surprised how great I felt throughout the whole thing, especially running the faster pace. Sometimes the treadmill works wonders! 😀

Then I came home, ate some zucchini, squash and broccoli for dinner and devoured about two servings of Friendly’s light moose tracks ice cream. YUM.
