Smoothie Sunday

Sunday was sort of a relaxing day. Eventually I motivated myself to get out the door and go for a run. I had originally wanted to do a long run, but once I got outside that thought quickly diminished. It wasn’t too sunny outside, but the humidity was unbearable. I struggled through four miles with some walking breaks, and it took me 42 minutes. I ran on my road, which is mostly just a highway that runs through the country, complete with grassy fields…and for some reason I could feel myself breathing in the pollen, which is one of the reasons my run was so uncomfortable.

After my run, I went back inside and made a chocolate cherry bomb, which included 1/2 cup of almond milk, 1/2 scoop of brown rice protein, 1/2 tsp of maca powder and a bunch of organic frozen cherries. Yum. I drank the smoothie while preparing lunch, which will you will not get to see since I didn’t photograph it. πŸ™ It was a refried bean and cheese quesadilla, topped with some peach mango salsa. Quite tasty and filling.

I bummed around the rest of the day and got caught up on google reader…but then it was time to think of something for dinner. I didn’t know what I was in the mood for and I was feeling lazy so I decided to go with a yogurt mess!

Yogurt Mess

  • 2/3 cup of raw oats
  • 1 container of vanilla honey Chobani yogurt
  • sliced banana
  • 1 tsp of chia seeds
  • a sprinkle of chopped pecans

All mixed together, doesn’t it look lovely? Yogurt messes don’t usually photograph well.

I also tried another flavor of Pop Chips for snack. Sea Salt and Vinegar! I LOVE salt and vinegar potato chips, and these were amazing! I swear, I’m getting addicted to Pop Chips!

The highlight of my Sunday was a meet up with Rosey Rebecca! πŸ™‚ I headed over to her apartment to hang out and talk about blogging. She made me some Annie’s mac and cheese complete with peas. πŸ™‚

And then I ate another smoothie, this time, made with Amazing Grass!

I have never tried a smoothie with Amazing Grass and Becca was kind enough to make me one! Who says you can’t have two smoothies in one day? Becca used her sweet vintage blender from the 1960s that still works perfectly!

In our smoothies went 1 scoop of amazing meal, 1 tbsp of cinnamon raisin peanut butter, a frozen banana, and almond milk! Becca works at a coffee shop so she knows how to make her drinks! πŸ™‚ The smoothie was very thick and creamy. Yum.

I had a great time hanging out with Becca last night! πŸ™‚

But, Let’s get onto today’s eats. This morning I was in the mood to try something new. I had seen a a recipe for a banana scramble on The Edible Perspective a few days ago, and I though it looked pretty tasty and easy to make. I happened to have all of the ingredients so I wanted to give it a try. It called for a banana, oats, chia seeds, peanut butter, unsweetened coconut and chocolate chips, all mashed together, like a breakfast cookie! I don’t know if I grilled it long enough because it was still really mushy, but it still tasted good! I could have put it on toast, but I didn’t want to add the extra calories. And it tasted just fine on its own! I would definitely make it again.

Okay, I’m off to enjoy the rest of my Monday, I’m meeting up with the CDNY Eat Drink Bloggers tonight! πŸ˜‰
