Nostalgia

It’s back to college week for most colleges around here, and I can’t help but feel nostalgic! Ten years ago around this time I was moving into my freshman dorm at the College of Saint Rose! I can’t believe its been ten years, because it feels like it was yesterday. I can remember it vividly.

Things are so much different now, though! In 2003, I had just gotten my first cell phone and text messaging was something new. Not even all of my friends had it. My phone looked like this. And it didn’t have a camera, either!

But of course, I had to take pictures…I used my old Olympus from 2002. 2.0 megapixel. Heck yeah!

Of course in college we all hard our own PC. I didn’t have my own computer until right before I moved in.

I only knew maybe two people that had laptops…I considered them lucky! I had to lug this thing back and forth each year. I did finally get a Macbook in 2006, my senior year. And its still my main computer at home today.

Since it was before Facebook, before Instagram, Twitter, and the iPhone…we still communicated via the internet, but with AIM. Remember those days?

I can still hear the slamming door notifying me that my buddies had signed on…and what does that away message of emo song lyrics really mean?

I also wrote in my LiveJournal almost every day! I’m actually really glad I can look back and read the posts of what I was thinking ten years ago. It’s really strange.

Its kind of ironic that ten years later I’m starting school again, but this time its graduate school! What are some of your favorite things from your college days?
