My Next Half Marathon
I’ve decided that I want to continue with training after the Boilermaker so I have my sights set on a local half marathon in Lake George in August.
The Camp Chingachgook Challenge Half Marathon!
Last year I ran the 10K portion of this race (read my recap here!) and it was a fun but challenging course. The half marathoners were speeding by me toward the end of the race, and I remember thinking to myself, “man, I could never do that!” Well, now I am going to!
I did debate with myself over running this race.
The Cons
- The month of August could mean heat & humidity
- Holy Hills! The course is hilly as seen in last year’s recap (and the photo above)
- Zero crowd support. I saw two people (literally) on the sidelines during the 10K (not including the finish area)
- Limited water stations/facilities
The Pros
- If all goes as planned, Chris will be running with me!
- Its in Lake George with beautiful views of the lake
- The road is shady since its in the woods
- Not many people run this race so it won’t be crowded
- Chris and I will make a weekend out of it and go camping!
- The challenge–I feel like I need to keep challenging myself in order to keep running interesting and this race will definitely be a challenge!
- Its CHEAP! Only $30 for a half? I’ll take it.
So, I think the pros outweigh the cons. I’m looking forward to training for speed and working on that little problem that I have with hills (they kill me) so this summer should be interesting!
The view at the end will be worth it.

I’ll come cheer you on! The Sprint Triathlon I’m planning on doing that day isn’t until the afternoon.

I’d go but it’s the same weekend as the rock ‘n toll half in Providence
