Lack of Running

This past weekend was the first in a long time where I did no running at all–actually, no working out at all. Friday I got hit with some kind of monster cold/mini flu like thing and it had me feeling crappy until yesterday. I ran a whopping 9 miles last week, and even when I was running, my runs felt like crap.

After four days off, I finally decided to run on the treadmill last night after work, but only made it about 2.3 miles. Ever since the time change, its dark and cold when I get home from work so I usually go to the gym. Lately I’ve been dreading it and dreading my runs all together. I’m thinking I’m going to start trying to run outside after work with my reflective gear and see if that helps because the treadmill just plain sucks. As much as I hate running in the dark, maybe I can enjoy the Christmas lights. :-D. The last good run I had was on Thanksgiving morning….

Before I got sidelined with sickness, I got a new pair of running shoes, the Brooks Pure Cadence, a light stability shoe in their Pure Flow line…I had been dying to try them for a while. I found a pretty good deal on them on Black Friday.

I really liked them for speedwork on the treadmill–so far I’ve only used them inside (except one sucky 2 mile run outside, but I’m not counting that). I’m going to stick with them for shorter runs and run in my Adrenalines for long runs.

{FYI: I paid for these shoes with my own $$–but if anyone would like to send me free shoes, I’m game.}

The rest of the week should look like this:

Wednesday – 5 mile tempo run (9:30 pace)
Thursday – 4 miles
Friday – Rest
Saturday – Yoga
Sunday – HMRRC Winter Series 15K–no expectations. My running has sucked lately so therefore this race probably will too. At least its flat. And free.
