Julie’s Birthday at Hana
Yesterday was my sisters 24th birthday! Happy Birthday, Julie! My sister was born 17 months after I was. Needless to say, we are close!! 😉 We went to the same college and even both had the same major. And we still share the same group of friends.
She wanted to have her birthday dinner Hibachi style at Hana Japanese Steakhouse.
My parents also joined us.
As did friends!
Chris and I got a blooming tea called Halo to share. It was tasty! It was so neat to watch the flower actually “bloom” while it steeped in the hot water. So pretty! My dad and Chris both agreed that it looked like something that should be living on the sea floor…
Chris and I shared a Japanese Vegetable Spring Roll for an appetizer.
And then the Hibachi man came out! He was funny and a great entertainer.
He was moving so fast his face is a blur!
My dinner was Tofu Teriyaki.
The tofu was lightly fried, but a bit too mushy for my liking. 🙁 I have yet to find a really good tofu dish that I love…I’m determined to find it!
After dinner it was time for cake!
My sister ordered her cake from Bake Me A Cake Next Door in Delmar. It was so cute!
It was white cake, with raspberry filling.
The cake itself wasn’t as moist as I would have liked, but the frosting was delicious. It was almost TOO sweet for me! But I ate it all anyway…
I hope my sister had a great birthday! It was a fun evening out at Hana. 🙂

Anyway, this morning I woke up feeling groggy, but headed to yoga class none the less. My legs felt SO tight, and some of the poses were actually uncomfortable this time, which is kind of strange. It could be the fact that I haven’t been running much this week, or maybe its just because my whole body feels like it’s been out of whack since the half marathon. But it felt great afterward!
I actually came home after yoga and managed to squeeze in a five mile run! With no foot pain! Hurray!! I iced it afterward anyway, just to be safe.

Will be waiting for the apple cranberry bread recipe. Guessing it’s fall-tastic.

That blooming tea looks so cool! I’ve seen the teapots for it at Teavana before but never tried it. And Happy Birthday to Julie!
