Hot Yoga in Saratoga
I feel so refreshed and rejuvenated after taking my first hot yoga class at Hot Yoga Saratoga. Katie invited Rebecca, Courtney and I to attend a class with her this morning. I’m so glad she did because I feel great right now.
I fueled this morning with half a bowl of vegan overnight oats that I found on Angela’s blog. I think I made them wrong because they were SO slimey. I did not enjoy the texture of these oats. I probably won’t be having overnight oats again any time soon.
So I got up bright and early to meet Courtney and Rebecca and we headed to Saratoga to meet Katie at the yoga studio!
It was 100 degrees in this room. They aren’t joking when they say it is hot yoga. π I don’t think I’ve sweat this much in my entire life, even running in 90 degree weather. My shorts were soaked through, and so was my towel. Remind me not to ever wear mascara to hot yoga again because I will end up looking like a raccoon!
The class was 90 minutes of poses (mostly poses I’ve never done before) and some of the standing poses were a bit challenging, and kind of hard on my lower back. The instructor had us do two sets of each pose. Sometimes coming out of the poses when I stood up, I felt a bit light headed, but I think I handled the heat pretty well!
I felt pretty good about myself for completing it too. I even stripped down to my yoga bra and shorts, and didn’t feel self-conscious at all. It was so hot I didn’t really care! I was just thinking about how 2 years ago I never in a million years would be caught dead taking a hot yoga class in just my bra and short shorts. A lot has changed since then, for the better.
A couple of times the instructor opened the door to let in the cool breeze and it felt amazing!! I felt so great after class though, the heat was worth it! I feel like I sweat out all of the toxins in my body and I felt so cleansed afterward, like I had taken a shower, even though I was probably so dirty from sweating. π
After class, a bunch of us headed to Saratoga Coffee Traders for brunch. We were all starving since we ate light before class. I ordered the Gallant Fox: a wrap with stuffed grape leaves, hummus, feta, kalamata olives, lettuce, tomato, and balsamic. It was so good! I’m obsessed with stuffed grape leaves.
I also got an iced green tea. Refreshing.
We hung out and chatted for a little while, it was nice! I love getting together with these girls! π
After brunch, we had to hit up Plum Dandy, the self-serve froyo shop. π
Courtney is too funny! I was this excited about the froyo too! π
I have never had self-serve froyo and had been dying to try it! I got the non fat chocolate yogurt with a bunch of toppings!
I put on strawberries, Heath bar, Reeses cups, coconut and crushed Oreo. All my faves! π This froyo was amazing! I loved it.
A bit on the pricey side, but I think it was worth it. π It can be easy to go overboard though, because the cups they supply you are HUGE!!!
All mixed together.
Well, I had a lovely morning in Saratoga with some lovely ladies. I’m sure this won’t be the last time we all meet up. I’m really glad I did hot yoga, although it might be a once in a while thing for me, since its also rather pricey, and they are no hot yoga studios near in Albany, that I know of.
I’m actually going back to Saratoga tonight to see John Mayer in concert. So excited! π Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hot yoga was amazing! I did it in Colorado at 6.30am and it was cool when I left class so I felt refreshed even though I was drenched. I had to rush back to the hotel and shower before my flight. I wish the closest places to me weren’t Saratoga and North Hampton. I would go more often.

I’ve been a blog-stalker for awhile but thought I’d finally comment π There’s a hot yoga studio on Rte 9 in Loudonville, in Newton Plaza. I’ve never been but have friends who have… they gave it great reviews and if I recall, they said it costs $17 a session. I’ve been considering trying it… I’m one of those strange people who loves to be ridiculously hot π

Thanks for commenting! I would suggest trying it at least once, it was a great experience! I was actually just looking at the website for that studio too! I might consider going again, especially since Loudonville is closer than Saratoga! π I bet hot yoga would be amazing in the winter when its 10 degrees outside!

I really want to try hot yoga sometime. It is definitely a no-no for me right now while pregnant but I can’t wait to give it a go later. Fro-yo sounds like the perfect thing to have afterwards.

You should try yin yoga, it works the connective tissues in your hips and lower back. I find that when I am doing yin yoga on a regular basis I don’t have pain in my hips.

oh nice. I’ve never heard of that kind! I will have to check it out! π

It’s so great that you do yoga. Yoga has really helped me with lower back problems.I found that Leeann Carey has a great free yoga video on pelvic positions that help with alignment.
