Final Summer Trail Run

Last night Chris and I went to ARE‘s final run of the Summer Trail Run Series at Tawasentha Park in Guilderland. It was a great night for a run.

Everyone gathered at one of the pavillions and then we were off for the 2.5 (ended up being about 2.8) mile trail run through the park.

It had been ages since Chris and I ran together, it was so nice! He stayed with me while I slowly made my way through the trails. It was a bit hard on my feet this time since I didn’t wear my trail shoes (stupid) but once we got off the slanted grass they were okay.

After finishing the loop, I turned around but instead of running it again, I headed up the paved road to the park entrance to make my run four miles total…4.0 miles in 45 minutes. The pavement felt much better on my feet!

I found Chris and then it was time to get some BBQ! The BBQ was catered last night since it was the final run.  I didn’t have much of an appetite after running, so I had some fruit and a bit of tasty tortellini salad.

The  trail run series is so much fun! I’m glad I went to a few this summer because I really enjoy running trails and it gives me an opportunity to do it, because I probably wouldn’t on my own. Chris loves it to0, so its something we enjoy doing together. I can’t believe its over already!

In other exciting news, I hit 103 miles total for the month of August…my highest month of running miles ever. I guess that is what marathon training will do! 😉
